Have you seen these beautiful sprayed edge copies of Little House in the Big Woods and Little House on the Prairie?

Would you or another Laura fan in your world like them for Christmas? I would suggest adding them to your holiday wish list, as they are stunning.

HarperKids Books outdid them selves with these and I hope they continue with the rest of the series!

This was brought to our attention by former LIWLRA President, Barb Mayes Boustead. This letter was found in the North Dakota State Archives. I will post a full picture of the letter in the comments. This letter is a request so that Mary could attend school for the blind.

Going through any of our collections provides interesting history. Sometimes, when you least expect it, you find something that takes your breath away.

While preparing collections for digitization, something caught Deputy State Archivist Lindsay's eyes.... 👀

All you fans rejoice! This is a request sent to the governor so that Laura's sister Mary Ingalls could attend school. This was necessary at that time because Mary was blind. Tucked away in the governor's correspondence concerning schools and colleges, this made many of us diehard fans tear up a little!

These papers will be digitized through the Dakota Territory Papers Project through generous funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

LIWLRA Board Member, Debi Perry, attended Wilder Days last weekend. Here is a mini recap from her and it is continued in the comments section.

My first Wilder Days experience was an amazing one. On day one of the festival, my family and I enjoyed perusing the booths and food/beverage trucks in the Mansfield Square, and the kids had fun with horseback riding and demonstrations of 1800s tools and skills. We also appreciated the local fourth graders’ performance, a play, and free concerts. On Saturday there was a parade, pioneer costume contests for the kids, and further musical presentations.

I spent the second day at Rocky Ridge Farm where I relished chatting with acclaimed authors William Anderson and Pamela Smith Hill, historian Eric Dodson, Ingalls relative and fashion historian Laura Ingalls Gunn, and several museum docents. I adored the self-guided tour format through the Wilders' beloved farmhouse, which I indulged in several times throughout the course of the afternoon, finally having an opportunity to reflect and take it all in- something that is typically rather difficult due to time constraints of a traditional guided tour.
