In Loving Tribute to AnnMarie Bellah (One of our beloved founding members of our chapter)

We remember Ann Marie as a zebra - rare in spirit, distinctive in strength, and fierce in her love for her patients, colleagues, family, and friends. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched, the profession she helped shape, and the compassion she modeled every day.

She will be deeply missed and forever honored. In commemoration of her lasting impact aand commitment to the NP profession, we will be establishing the Ann Marie Hunt Bellah Student Scholarship Award supporting student NP and DNP’s attending the CANP conference continuing her legacy of mentorship, leadership, and service to the nurse practitioner profession.

Jan 2026 Meeting in Mountain View. We learned about Shield™ by Guardant Health, an FDA-approved blood test for colorectal cancer screening.
🔬 100% sensitivity for Stage II and above CRC
⚠️ Lower detection for Stage I (~55%) and for polyps (Similar to FIT, HSgFOBT and slightly lower than Cologuard)

This simpler option will definitely help increase screening adherence, especially for patients who say:

“I don’t want the stool test or a colonoscopy… I can’t handle the prep and no one in my family has CRC.”

🩺 Reminder: Colonoscopy remains the gold standard for colorectal cancer screening. But whatever the test that patient will perform is the BEST screening test.

So great to meet and spend time with all of you. Let’s keep building our community 💙 I will add more info about the Tribute to Ann Marie Bellah in separate post.
We’ll continue to:
• Collect children’s diapers & adult briefs for donation
• Look for speakers for community health talks
• Share updates on the CANP Annual Conference coming up March in San Diego

✨ Stay tuned!
