Our mission is to ensure every family in San Jose has the fundamental building blocks to create mobility from poverty. Our volunteers, community partners, donors and supporters help underserved families obtain the basic necessities to survive and acquire the life skills to thrive. We provide programs for underserved families to acquire healthy food and build life skills on financial stability, career readiness, personal advocacy, health and wellness, technology and education. Together, we foster positive childhood development and elevate hope that through initiative and hard work, everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Your Donations Help Our Community Survive and Thrive:

Let’s Shop ’Til We Drop for a Good Cause! 🛍️🎁

The Sunday Friends Holiday Shopping Spree (HSS) is back, and it’s time to build your teams and put kindness into action!

This beloved tradition brings our community together to stock the Sunday Friends Holiday Store, where parents and children use their earned participation currency to choose meaningful gifts for the people they love. Families earn this currency by showing up, contributing, and engaging throughout the year.

Here’s How It Works:

Build Your Dream Team — Gather a group of at least two people.

Name Your Team — Get creative with a punny team name!

Fundraise — Raise at least $35 per person to purchase gifts.

Shop With Purpose — Join us at Target on December 4 for a festive shopping spree.

Complete Your Mission — Find the perfect gifts based on assigned age groups and interests.

Celebrate — Meet back at the registers for checkout and prizes!

Why It Matters

With the rising cost of living, many families face difficult choices between essentials like rent, healthcare, and other basic needs. For some, holiday gifts simply aren't within reach.

Your support helps make it possible for parents and children to choose and give meaningful gifts to the people they love. Together, we create opportunities for families to experience the joy of giving, the pride of choosing thoughtful gifts, and the dignity that comes from giving through their own effort.

Help Make Halloween Spooktacular for Sunday Friends Families!

For many children, Halloween is a time for costumes, candy, laughter, and making special memories with family and friends. Your generosity helps make sure that families in our community can experience that joy, too.

This year, we’re bringing the Halloween spirit to life through our Sunday Friends Trunk-or-Treat, and we need our community to help make it a spooktacular celebration!

Volunteer at Trunk-or-Treat!
We’re looking for individuals, families, businesses, and community groups to host a Trunk-or-Treat station and create a fun, welcoming experience for Sunday Friends families.

Event Details:

Sunday, October 18
10:00 AM–1:00 PM
Setup begins at 9:30 AM
1400 Parkmoor Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126

Each Trunk-or-Treat station will receive two parking spaces. Volunteers will:
-Decorate your trunk or station
-Create a fun, family-friendly activity
-Provide treats for participating families

Ready to sign up? Each group or station only needs one volunteer/representative to register on VolunteerHub to help us avoid duplicate sign-ups. If your group would like to reserve multiple stations, please register accordingly.

From Recycled Jars to New Possibilities
A recycled jar, leftover wax, and a little creativity can become something new!

Through the DBM RePurpose Hub, Sunday Friends youth are learning about sustainability through hands-on activities like candle making. By practicing Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, they’re discovering how everyday materials can be repurposed while building creativity and practical skills.

Your donations help make these experiences possible.

If you’ve been meaning to clean out a closet, garage, or storage room, please consider donating your gently used items this Sunday. Donations can become creative materials, learning tools, and entrepreneurial opportunities for families in our community.

Have gently used items in your closet, garage, or storage room? Bring them to our donation drop-off and help support two new initiatives: the DBM RePurpose Hub and The Launchpad by Sunday Friends.
