Join us in welcoming Gale Daikoku to our Board of Directors!

Gale Daikoku is based in the San Francisco Bay Area where she is a senior, policy-adjacent technologist and program architect. She works at the intersection of enterprise technology, civic systems, nonprofit institutions, and cross-sector leadership, to help organizations navigate technological transitions.

Gale consults with a variety of civic, nonprofit, and community-based organizations to apply Silicon Valley–rooted technology and AI fluency to practical challenges in economic development centered on community-centered outcomes. She provides a variety of consulting services including research, market analysis, marketing/communication programs, and facilitated team-building workshops. Gale also teaches Guided Autobiography, and mentors college students on building skills and career strategies to enter the workforce.

Gale looks forward to serving on the Board at Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley, utilizing her time and skills to increase our impact in the community.

Join us in welcoming Danayit Mekonnen to our Board of Directors!

Danayit joined the board after first becoming involved with the organization as a volunteer in 2024. She is passionate about RTSV’s mission of creating safe and healthy homes and strengthening the communities it serves. Her experience volunteering directly with the organization gives her a strong appreciation for the impact that thoughtful planning, collaboration, and hands-on service can have for local homeowners.

Danayit is a Manufacturing Infrastructure Project Manager at Bloom Energy where she leads complex infrastructure and capacity expansion projects supporting advanced manufacturing operations. She holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering and has a background spanning engineering, semiconductor manufacturing, facilities, and technical program management. She brings experience in project ex*****on, cross-functional leadership, construction and facilities planning, and operational strategy, with a focus on helping RTSV continue to expand its impact across Silicon Valley.

A recent analysis from the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies found that our nation's housing stock is older than ever, with millions of homeowners living in homes built before 1960. These homes require ongoing investments in roofing, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, accessibility modifications, and other essential repairs. And though the oldest homes need significant investment, they are disproportionately occupied by owners with the least financial capacity to make repairs.

The consequences are significant. Older homes are far more likely to have serious physical deficiencies, and deferred repairs can lead to health and safety risks, rising costs, and the loss of one of a family's most important assets. For many lower-income homeowners, preserving their home is critical to maintaining housing stability and building generational wealth.

This is exactly why the work of Rebuilding Together is so important. By providing critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, and safety improvements, Rebuilding Together helps homeowners remain safely in their homes, protects affordable housing stock, and strengthens communities. Preservation is often one of the most effective and cost-efficient affordable housing strategies available.

Join us in welcoming Andre Robles to the RTSV team as our new Construction Services Coordinator. He brings more than two decades of experience in the construction industry. His journey began in high school, spending summers working as an electrician, and has since grown to include experience in general contracting, HVAC, property management, and project coordination.

Before joining RTSV, Andre served as a property manager, where he developed a passion for coordinating people, projects, and resources to keep complex operations running smoothly. He enjoys bringing teams together, solving problems, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently so homeowners receive the highest level of care and service.

Andre is inspired by Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley's mission to create safe, healthy homes and believes that stable housing has the power to strengthen individuals, families, and entire communities.

This recent commentary highlights a challenge that often gets overlooked: millions of homeowners are living in homes with critical repair needs, compromising their health, safety, and ability to remain in their communities.

For 35 years, Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley has been addressing this issue head-on. Through critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, and community revitalization efforts, our organization has helped ensure that vulnerable homeowners can live in safe, healthy homes with dignity and independence.

June is Pride Month, and RTSV is grateful to our LQBTQ+ community members including our staff, volunteers, clients, and most especially our community's LGBTQ+ elders who paved the way for our communities to be more inclusive and add richness with their experiences, memories, and stories.

During Pride month, we celebrate how our community has grown stronger thanks to our diverse neighbors who bring vibrance to our neighborhoods.
