When it comes to feeding a newborn, healthy journeys come in many forms—whether that means direct breastfeeding, pumping, formula, or combination feeding. Sometimes milk takes a few days to fully come in, or a medical need shifts your timeline, and having a flexible "what if" backup plan can bring immense peace of mind.

Learn how to map out a supportive backup plan, including how pasteurized donor human milk can serve as a safe bridge, in our latest guide: mothersmilk.org/the-milk-hub/preparing-to-feed-your-baby-a-simple-third-trimester-guide-for-first-time-parents/

Behind almost every successful milk donor is an incredible partner cheering them on. 🍼✨

This Fathers’ Day, we want to give a massive shoutout to all the dads and partners who make milk donation possible. You’re the ones washing pump parts at 2 AM, labeling breast milk bags, packing the coolers for drop-offs, and keeping the water bottles filled.

When you support your partner's pumping and donation journey, you aren't just helping your own family—you're helping us save fragile babies in the NICU.

To the ultimate teammates, the logistical geniuses, and the supportive rocks: Happy Father's Day! We couldn’t do this without you. 💙

"Your only job is to make her job easier." 🍼

For Fathers’ Day, we interviewed Todd on how he moved past the "that's her department" mindset to become his partner's ultimate breastfeeding teammate (and how they eventually became milk donors!).

"My son, Max, was born at 25 weeks + 4 days, on October 27th. He was stabilized and transported to the local hospital with a NICU. Shortly after he was born I discovered I had mastitis, and the doctors told me to discard all the milk I was pumping to be on the safe side. During this time he was fed donor milk, which we are forever grateful for.

During his NICU stay he battled infection, a NEC scare, a brain bleed, and many other things. By God’s grace he was discharged 89 days later and is doing well. Because I have an oversupply, I am now able to donate milk to other NICU babies that may be in need. "

Thank you .and.theo_ for sharing your story of bravery and generosity! You are an inspiration to us all.

Erin says “When my son was born he spent five days in the NICU and I made pumping my full time job to keep from going crazy without him! I chose to continue to exclusively pump for a few different reasons. While it hasn’t been easy and I’ve considered stopping for my mental health multiple times, it’s been five months and I’m glad I kept going!

I remember one of the nurses in the mother & baby unit told me she was able to donate milk since she had an oversupply. Once I learned I did too, I immediately thought of donation. With the help of my in-laws and their deep freezer, I was able to stash away more milk than Kai will ever need. I’m so thankful to Mother’s Milk Bank for helping me and other moms share the gift of liquid gold with babies who will greatly benefit from it. I couldn’t have done it without the daily support of my husband, my mom, my in-laws, and the network of moms in my life who gave me tips and tricks along the way.”
