āMy son Joseph was born 13 weeks early, weighing only 1 lb 3oz. I started pumping right away in the hope that my supply would come in. While I was able to establish a great supply, my son was so sick, he wasnāt able to take any milk and was on IVs till he was over a month old. I decided I wanted to make pumping a full time job so I could use my supply to not only provide for my son once he was strong enough to eat, but to be able to give to other mothers who may be in a similar situation as me, but unable to provide milk. The NICU already asks so much of mothers, and to be able to ease some of the anxiety, is the biggest honor and gift I can give. I wouldnāt be able to do it without the help of Motherās Milk Bank.
