Los Lupeños de San Jose Los Lupeños exists to promote the awareness, appreciation, and understanding of folklórico dance.

Founded in 1969 by visionaries Ramón Morones and Susan Cashion, Los Lupeños is recognized as one of the earliest Mexican folk dance companies in California. Los Lupeños is known for its artistry, history, traditions, innovation, and endurance. Los Lupeños artists are passionate about learning and executing their art form, representing their culture, and being a positive force within the California

dance community. As a program of the CCL since 2014, Los Lupeños has re-established itself at the forefront of the folklórico dance genre. In 2015, Los Lupeños Juvenil was created as a performing youth ensemble that parallels the traditional dance training of the main adult company. Both companies are directed by renowned choreographer Samuel Cortez.

We are honored to share that Cashion Cultural Legacy and Los Lupeños de San José have been selected as a 2026 SVCREATES Unrestricted Operating Grant recipient!

This support will help us continue preserving, presenting, and advancing Mexican folklórico dance through performances, education, cultural research, and accessible community programming.

We are deeply grateful to SVCREATES, the County of Santa Clara, and the David & Lucile Packard Foundation for investing in the arts and in organizations that reflect the diversity, creativity, and cultural vibrancy of Santa Clara County.

Congratulations to all the recipient organizations, and thank you to our dancers, families, artists, volunteers, staff, board members, and community partners who make our work possible!

Today we remember Ramón Morones Ortiz, co-founder of Los Lupeños de San José. 💛

A visionary artist, teacher, and leader, Ramón dedicated his life to sharing and preserving the traditions of baile folklórico. His passion and creativity helped build the foundation of Los Lupeños, and his legacy continues to inspire generations of dancers today.
