🌿 Coming soon: Sunder the Beautiful Elephant

Sunder the Beautiful Elephant is a heartfelt children's picture book written by Seema Vaid, President of A Compassionate World. It's inspired by the true story of Sunder, a baby elephant born in the jungles of Assam, India.

After being separated from his herd and mother, Sunder endures years of hardship first tied up in a village, then kept in chains at a temple in Kolhapur longing for his home and family. His suffering goes unnoticed until compassionate visitors raise the alarm, sparking a worldwide campaign that unites ordinary people, activists, and even celebrated figures like Paul McCartney in the call for his freedom.

Through the Indian courts, Sunder's story ultimately triumphs: he is freed and brought to a wildlife sanctuary in Bangalore, where he finds healing, new friendships, and a life that echoes the wild jungle he always dreamed of returning to.

This book is proudly sponsored by the nonprofit organization A Compassionate World. All proceeds will directly fund initiatives that advance the welfare and freedom of elephants.

Written especially for children ages 5–9, this book gently teaches the importance of kindness towards animals, the power of collective compassion, and the belief that every voice – no matter how small – can make a difference.

Buried inside the Farm Bill is something called the Save Our Bacon Act. If it passes, it would erase 600+ state animal welfare and food safety laws, including California's Prop 12, which voters chose with 63% support.

Every state law your community fought for, voted for, and won? Gone. 💔

This goes beyond just an animal welfare issue – it’s about whether the people in your state get to decide what happens in your food system, or whether a powerful industry lobby gets to decide for you. 🙅

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the love that connects us all – the love of mothers from every species. 💛

Elephant matriarchs who guide their herds with wisdom.
Mother cows who grieve when separated from their calves.
Birds who shelter their chicks beneath their wings.
Dogs who nurture their puppies with unwavering devotion.

Their love is real, and their bonds are strong. Their feelings matter.
