“Education means growth, being able to learn something and share it with others.”

For Kristian and Nicole E., that belief took shape in the middle of real life. Raising five daughters, balancing demanding careers, and navigating military service, all while continuing their education.

They kept showing up, earning degree after degree as they built something bigger for their family. Kristian earned his Bachelor of Science in Public Health and his Master of Public Health. While Nicole earned her Associate’s, her Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration, and her Master of Public Health.

What stands out is not just what they earned, but how they made it happen.They found a rhythm, leaned on support, and kept moving forward even when life was already full. What they have built goes beyond milestones. It is a powerful reflection of what it means to keep growing, keep pushing forward, and keep showing up for the people and future you are building.

We are standing with every parent doing the same, showing up, continuing forward, and creating something meaningful along the way.

Leanna’s journey is a powerful reminder that investing in your goals can be truly . As a first-generation college graduate, she earned her M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis and is now a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

Leanna also serves as an NU Ambassador and pursues her passions in pageants, modeling, and singing. Her story reflects perseverance, purpose, and the impact of creating opportunities for yourself while making your family proud. We're proud of her too. 💙

The commencement stage may have cleared, but the inspiration hasn’t faded.

For our ANDers, the journey to a degree looks a little different. It happens between shifts, after tucking the kids into bed, during deployment, or in any spare moments they can find.

This is a tribute to our community: our first-gen trailblazers, our military servicemembers, our busy parents who chose to invest in themselves, and the incredible faculty and staff who supported them every step of the way.

"It was a huge cultural shock."

For U.S. Army Veteran Majin M., the transition to civilian life followed nearly a decade of active duty and multiple deployments across Asia and the Middle East. While "coding languages" were a new challenge, the "cultural language" of civilian life was an even bigger one.

Having earned his B.S. in Information Systems ('25), Majin is now bridging the gap between high-level IT and leadership. His biggest takeaway for his fellow Veterans? "It’s never too late to start."
