What started as a faith journey of Amor’s founders Gayla and Scott, has turned in to a global ministry with a vision shared by many. Gayla and Scott founded Amor Ministries in 1980 to address the housing needs that were keeping families apart. The first homes were built alongside families in the Tijuana dump who were sending their children to orphanages because they couldn’t provide for them. Thes

e families were desperate to stay together, but resources kept that from being possible. After learning about this, Amor’s Founders decided to do something about it. Today Amor is active in communities throughout Mexico, South Africa, and beyond. Amor Ministries does more than just make life easier for a family in need, we open hearts to truly see the grace and love of Jesus by providing security, safety, and stability. Through the time and energy of our volunteers, Amor has kept over 18,000 families together.

Our work at Amor to support families in Mexico continues year-round, 365 days a year! Here’s how you can continue partnering with us:

- Giving $15/month Amor 365 helps us employ local workers to build homes for families in Mexico all year long

- Food Bank donations allow our pastors in Baja, Puerto Peñasco, and Juarez to purchase food for the families in their communities each month

- Become a monthly supporter of our Mexico Team, or even the team member you worked alongside! Our team raises support to fund employee salaries.

Momentos de Amor ❤️ Juarez Edition!

We usually tell you what our team has been up to in Tijuana, but today we want to share a glimpse of our work in Juarez!

1. Alfredo, our Ciudad Juarez Team Lead, had a meeting with our pastors to get food bags ready for the Food Bank.
2. The pastors received the food bags to distribute to the families in their communities.
3. Alfredo and his team of local workers were able to build and dedicate a few houses this week, thanks to our Complete House Sponsorship and Amor 365 donors!

Great job Alfredo! We are thankful to continue serving in Juarez!

Have you ever wondered what Amor houses look like? 🏠

As you can see in the video, there are two types of homes we build. One is a single and the other is a double. The single house has two rooms, while the double has four.

Who decides which one gets built? 🔨

Our pastors board! Typically, there needs to be more than six people in a family in order to qualify, although every situation is different and must be reviewed and approved by our pastors.

Either way, single or double, the love and mission is always the same: keeping families together. ❤️🏠

Beatris and Agustin have big dreams and just want the best for their two kids, just like any other parent ❤

They shared that having a home was one of those dreams, and they were able to accomplish it - because of you! Thank you to Jacksonville Presbyterian Church for making this possible by building a house alongside them on your Amor trip last summer.

When you come on an Amor trip, your impact goes beyond just building a safe home for a family. You can also help build a better future for their kids, a transformation that transcends generations!

Monday Momentos de Amor ❤️

Last week was filled with house dedications, hugs, and hard work!

1. Walls are up! This is one of our favorite parts of the build, since you start to get a glimpse of the house.
2. Shout out to Dungeness Community who were a big support to our Mexico staff.
3. Our pastors received their monthly food bags to support families in their communities.
4. Look at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church's house, beautiful!

6. Congratulations to Grupo Unidad San Diego who finished the stucco of two homes during their day trip!

We’re grateful to God for another week in the field, and we’re looking forward to see what comes next!

Amor around the world 🌍

Did you know that Amor also serves in the Yucatán Peninsula, Europe, and South Africa?

Our partners have been busy over the last few months: from Amor Yucatan Peninsula's Chivas soccer teams traveling to Guadalajara, Mexico for the national Chivas tournament, Amor Europe's BUILD team working alongside local Burkinabé volunteers in February to begin construction of a three-classroom block to double the Kodeni School's capacity from 300 to 600 students, to Amor South Africa working on a pilot water filter project in Soweto in response to the critical and growing challenge of access to safe drinking water.
