The San Diego Alumnae Chapter has been an important part of the San Diego community for more than seventy years. Marsh, National President, officiating. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide
assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout
the world. Founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two collegiate women at Howard University, the
S

orority is currently a sisterhood of more than 200,000 predominately Black college educated
women. This includes over 900 chapters located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo
and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Republic of Korea. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five Point Programmatic
Thrust:
Economic Development
Physical and Mental Health
Educational Development

The San Diego Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was proud to participate in this year’s Cooper Family Foundation Juneteenth Celebration by hosting a voter registration and education booth.

As we commemorated the significance of Juneteenth and celebrated Black history, culture, and resilience, we also encouraged community members to exercise one of their most powerful rights, the right to be informed, engaged, and civically involved.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, shared conversations, and learned more about the importance of civic engagement. Together, we continue the work of building a stronger, more informed community.
