Congratulations to our Board Chair! ⭐️

SDPAL congratulates María Nieto Señour, a 2026 Star Awards honoree! María will be awarded on Monday, October 26th at Tom Ham's Lighthouse. Thank you, María, for the outstanding volunteer service you offer at San Diego Theatres.

Here's more from San Diego Theatres about Maria's involvement:

Dr. María Nieto Señour brings a rare combination of civic depth, regional insight, and genuine passion for the performing arts to the San Diego Theatres. Now serving her second term as Chair, she is a trusted, steadying presence — a leader who listens carefully, builds consensus, and holds the organization to its highest aspirations. Her decades of public service as a trustee and Board President of the San Diego Community College District, where she was the first Latina elected to a citywide school or college board office, provide an extraordinary understanding of the region and relationships that span education, government, business, and community life. As a tireless advocate for San Diego Theatres, Maria champions the historic Civic and Balboa Theatres as cultural treasures, downtown economic engines, and welcoming gathering places. San Diego Theatres is honored to recognize Maria for volunteer leadership marked by integrity, advocacy, and an unwavering belief that the arts must be accessible to all San Diegans.
