Join us at the UN Commission on the Status on Women for a CSW side event, “How Systems Fail Survivors: The Role of Justice and Financial Institutions in Causing — and Combating — S*xual Exploitation and Trafficking,” on Tuesday, March 17, from 10:00-11:15 am (EST).

At this critical moment of global reckoning on s*xual exploitation and s*x trafficking, the event will explore how justice and financial systems can revictimize survivors through stigma, criminalization, and barriers to services and legal recourse against traffickers and s*x buyers. The discussion will also highlight how these systems can strengthen prevention and protection by adopting survivor-centred, trauma-informed approaches, improving investigations and prosecutions, and disrupting the financial flows that enable exploitation.

RSVP is required. Visit the link in bio to save your seat.

Grateful for San Diego County DA’s and law enforcement’s relentless pursuit to protect…and prosecute!

This morning, San Diego County District Attorney DA Summer Stephan joined CA Attorney General Rob Bonta and law enforcement partners to announce the results of Operation “Stand on Demand,” a statewide human trafficking operation conducted during Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
The operation underscored our office’s year-round commitment to fighting human trafficking and s*xual exploitation—while deploying a new state law that holds buyers of s*x more accountable by making loitering to purchase s*x a crime. Dozens of individuals were cited under the new law, primarily in areas known as “the blade,” directly addressing the demand that fuels trafficking.
In San Diego County, the operation resulted in:
▪️ 105 s*x buyers arrested
▪️ 4 individuals arrested for alleged human trafficking, s*xual exploitation, and related crimes
Operations were conducted at motels in National City, Santee, and San Marcos, as well as in neighborhoods across the county where individuals are openly bought and sold for s*x.
DA Stephan thanked the Human Trafficking Task Force, Deputy District Attorney David Jarman, and Carolyn Matzger, Chief of the S*x Crimes and Human Trafficking Division, for their leadership and dedication.
Human trafficking remains a lucrative criminal industry—but together, we are holding traffickers and criminal buyers more accountable than ever.

The Trafficking Survivors Relief Act has been officially signed into law!

After 9 years of advocacy, survivors of human trafficking will finally have a pathway to clear federal criminal records tied directly to their exploitation.

This is a historic step forward in protecting victims and survivors at the federal level.
