🎒BYOB! Bring your own bag for swap items.

📚 Swap guidelines
- Help our volunteers keep tables full of swap items by only bringing gently used items, ensuring they have no excessive markings or torn pages.
- ACCEPTED: Books, zines, and magazines.
- NOT ACCEPTED: Activity books, textbooks, coloring books, or anything containing AI elements.

🎈 BIG swap update! 🎈

This month officially marks TWO YEARS since we founded Free Family Book Swap, and somehow we haven’t been cancelled yet.

We’re so grateful to everyone who has helped keep our swaps free and community-driven. And, speaking of the folks who make this all possible, we have someone special we’d like to introduce.

📣 Meet Kristina, our new Creative Director and Cohost!

Kristina started volunteering with us over a year ago and has been involved with our story ever since. From rescuing books and tracking down secondhand supplies for our swaps to shaping our visual identity through flyers, cost-free merch, signage, brand storytelling, as well our newest brand kit, she’s been a huge part of both our creative process and our successful community outreach.

Somehow she does all of this on top of attending design school, banner drops, community patrols, and supporting multiple mutual aid efforts nearly every week. She’s the kind of person who chooses to spend her own birthday helping with meal distribution.

We’re continually inspired by her creativity and her commitment to community care, so we finally decided to make it official.

🫶🏽 Behind the scenes, Kristina is working as our Creative Director, and on swap days, she’s our official Cohost, helping us bring more swaps to more families, educators, and students across San Diego County!

Please help us give her a BIG welcome! 📚

🫶🏽 A heartfelt thanks to Escondido Public Library for thinking of us when cleaning out their Spanish-language children’s and teen collections. They donated all of these books to our November swap, on top of so many more that we’re starting to lose count.

Our book swaps are made possible by community partners who believe in keeping books accessible to everyone.

Our swaps are only possible because of community members who believe in keeping books accessible to the community.

✨ Follow bab and friends and visit their NEW space in Barrio Logan at 2212 Main Street located in the WOO. They work with local artists, writers, and creators to publish zines, alternative comics, and prints, while creating space for DIY art and community collaboration. 🖤
