Miss Vietnam San Diego

Miss Vietnam San Diego Miss Vietnam San Diego, established in 2006 under the Vietnamese American Youth Alliance, celebrates the beauty of our cultural community in San Diego.

Our mission is to uplift young women who inspire through service and shine with pride. About Miss Vietnam of San Diego™
The Miss Vietnam San Diego™ is established with the primary focus of elevating the Vietnamese-American woman as a national symbol of beauty and pride captured internally and externally through her poise, grace, intellectual strength, and individuality. The pageant serves to promo

te the Vietnamese culture by retaining the functions of the traditional ao dai, developing teamwork through cultural dance, and directing questions which demonstrate Vietnamese culture through the eyes of today's young Vietnamese women. Lastly, the Miss Vietnam San Diego pageant brings our community together. Uniting the women who participate, friends and family in the audience, and all those involved its formation, Miss Vietnam San Diego brings the Vietnamese community of San Diego closer together. It is an opportunity to develop long-standing friendships and bonds with peers of Vietnamese-American identities. It serves to elevate the Vietnamese-American woman, to promote our culture and heritage, to develop a lasting bond between the Vietnamese American community, and to define what it means to be united. The Miss Vietnam San Diego Pageant is part of the Vietnamese American Youth Alliance's San Diego Tet Festival, hosted annually at Mira Mesa Community Park. Learn more at www.sdtet.com

Thank you, Vietnamese Mental Health, for hosting Closing the Gap: Conversations Across Generations! ☺️💚

This workshop created a meaningful space for open and honest conversations surrounding mental health within the Vietnamese community. It was comforting to share experiences that so many of us could relate to, while also hearing from older generations who faced similar challenges growing up.

One of the most impactful takeaways was learning how many parents and elders are making a conscious effort to better understand mental health, strengthen communication, and break cycles of generational trauma for future generations. These conversations are not always easy, but they are so important. 🌱

Happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! ⭐️

Last Saturday, Kaia & I had a pleasure attending the Asian Pacific Cultural Festival at Balboa Park. It was wonderful to experience the cultural performances and stroll through the House of Pacific Relations International Cottages—a beautiful glimpse into traditions and heritages from around the world! 🌏💫

Speaking with some of the volunteers served as a reminder that even the smallest acts of service can leave an impact. Throughout every cultural showcase, there was a sense of pride and unity that shined brightly.

As a representative of VAYA, MVSD is proud to continue supporting cultural events that celebrate diversity, preserve heritage, and bring education and life to communities worldwide. 💛

This past week, our First Princess and Miss Community Service had the honor of attending the AANHPI Heritage Month Proclamation at San Diego City Hall alongside many incredible Asian organizations. It was a meaningful moment to stand together in celebration of our shared heritage and moments like this remind us of the unity within our AANHPI communities. We’re grateful for the opportunity to represent the Vietnamese community and to stand with so many organizations dedicated to uplifting our voices!

The áo dài has grown and transformed alongside our culture, shifting through different eras while still holding onto its original spirit. Even as fabrics, colors, and silhouettes evolve, the áo dài remains a symbol of identity, tradition, and pride. It connects us to the generations who wore it before us and reflects how our community continues to grow while staying true to its heritage. Celebrating Áo Dài Day with gratitude for the beauty and strength this garment represents. 🤍
