📢 NALC UPDATE — DECEMBER PENALTY OVERTIME EXCLUSION

The 2026 penalty overtime exclusion period runs from November 28 through December 25, 2026.

📌 What does this mean?

During these four weeks, letter carriers will not receive penalty overtime (double-time pay) for working more than 10 hours in a day or 56 hours in a service week. Instead, applicable overtime hours will generally be paid at the regular overtime rate (1.5 times).

⚠️ IMPORTANT — 2.5 TIMES PAY STILL APPLIES!

Under Article 8.4.G of the National Agreement, letter carriers must still receive 2.5 times their base hourly rate for hours worked beyond:

• 12 hours in a service day
• 60 hours in a service week

This protection remains in effect during the December exclusion period.
