After 44 years of union membership, Diane Nunez is retiring from her role as Trustee of OPEIU Local 30. Diane has been a proud and active member of OPEIU Local 30 since the beginning of her career at Kaiser Permanente. Her leadership and commitment have been evident through her service on the Executive Board, first as Recording Secretary and most recently as Trustee. Her contributions have helped shape and strengthen the unionā€™s mission and impact. Diane will continue her union journey as a retiree memberā€”her dedication never stops!

Join us for a Spooky, Solidarity-Filled TRUNKā€“ORā€“TREAT & Ballot Bash! šŸŽƒšŸ—³ļø
What's a Trunk or Treat?
It's a safe, fun, and community-packed Halloween event! Union and community members will decorate their car trunks and pass out candy to costumed kids who go "trunk-or-treating" through our parking lot. We'll also have a bounce house for all ghosts and goblins!

This year, we're adding a treat to protect our future!
While the kids collect candy, let's make sure our community's voice is heard. Bring your YES on Prop 50 ballot to drop off! We'll deliver them straight to an official ballot drop off. Don't worry, you don't need your ballot to join the funā€”this is first and foremost a celebration of our union and community spirit!

We need YOU to make it a scream!

Something exciting happened at our October 23rd General Membership Meetingā€¦ The 2025 Local 30 Scholarship Drawing took place, and eight lucky winners were selected to receive $2,000 scholarships each!
But hereā€™s the twist ā€” weā€™re keeping the names under wraps just a little longer. šŸ‘€

Labor Community Services will host its Annual Thanksgiving Food Distribution on November 22, 2025, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the IBEW Electrical Training Institute. The address is 6325 S. We had a great time connecting with everyone at The San Diego LGBT Community Center's Out & Connected Professional Development Fair over the weekend! Thank you to all the attendees who stopped by the Local 30 booth to chat about their professional development goals and learn about the unionā€™s role in our communities.
Huge thanks to the organizers for an incredible event. It was a true pleasure to be a part of it. For everyone we met, we hope you left feeling inspired.
