On Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, Teamsters Local 542 Business Agent Adan Pelayo-Mark visited the San Marcos UPS facility to talk with members. Adan updated members on the Teamsters Western Region Class Action Grievance and Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) that was filed against UPS. Our members are thankful for Adan keeping them informed and making it clear: UPS's bully tactics against our Teamster members will NOT be tolerated. Filing grievances to enforce our contract, protect our members, and hold management accountable is what hard-working Teamsters do!

From CNA to RN — meet Gladys Ledesma-Pinto. After 26 years at El Centro Regional Medical Center, she just started her Nurse Residency on the med-surg floor.

On August 26th-27th 2026, Teamsters Local 542 Executive Board and Staff attended the Joint Council 42 Division Meetings and Delegates Meeting at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad. Jaime Vasquez serves as Vice President of Joint Council 42, one of the largest Joint Councils in the country. During the meetings, Jaime introduced our newest staff members: Donna Benedict, Project Organizer for Imperial County; Noella Ramirez, Imperial County Office Staff and TITAN Operator; and Alan Childs, Project Organizer for San Diego. Teamsters Local 542 were proud to welcome guest speakers Carlsbad Mayor Pro Tem Priya Bhat-Patel and U.S. Representative Mike Levin (CA), who spoke on the importance of what labor unions are doing for the working class. Bringing some of the strongest unions together for these meetings benefits every member. We are unified in our approach to taking on big corporations such as UPS, Amazon, and Costco.
