✊Cal Energy IBEW Negotiation Update ✊

Cal Energy - IBEW Meeting Wednesday 8/26 @5:00pm

IBEW 465 Union Members at Cal Energy!

Join us NEXT WEDNESDAY August 26th at 5:00pm for an IN PERSON at the union hall at 497 W Wall Rd where we will be sharing an important update on our negotiations with Cal Energy. If you cannot make it in person we will also send out a zoom link.

We want to say thank you to everyone for your patience throughout this process. Your committee has continues to fight hard throughout these negotiations, the workers stood strong and united, and we are all fighting for the same goal - to win a strong first contract and we will be sharing important updates next Wednesday 8/26!

We have been applying political pressure at city council meetings, have done interviews with the media (https://kyma.com/news/imperial-county/2026/07/09/lithium-valley-in-jeopardy-labor-dispute-threatens-the-future-of-geothermal-power-and-lithium-extraction/ ), and have taken full page ads in local newspapers (attached below). We look forward to sharing an update on the two days of bargaining this week on 8/18 and 8/19 with you all next week!

✊We’re back at the bargaining table!✊
Our fight for a fair contract for our 175 Geothermal Members at BHE Renewables continues tomorrow with full day bargaining sessions on 8/18 and 8/19 where we will continue our fight for a fair contract! The workers at Cal Energy, one of the largest geothermal power plants in the Imperial Valley, are fighting for a better future for their families. They are fighting for respect, for recognition, for fairness, for industry standard pay and for better work-life balance. After ramping up pressure including filing unfair labor practice charges, political pressure and national media coverage hi-lighting the workers efforts to win a historic first contract we are finally back at the table after 7 weeks.

We will continue our solidarity actions, our collective worker advocacy and our fight until the workers get the first contract they deserve! Thank you to everyone who has helped support these incredible workers during this 8 month contract negotiation process which continues tomorrow! San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council

⚡️IBEW IV Storm Restoration Continues⚡️
Every single customer has been restored by loop feeds, shoe fly installations, and endless transformer replacements and re locations. Now our Imperial Valley IBEW Members at the Imperial Irrigation District continue the work of repairing all the damaged infrastructure that remains on the ground, in canal banks and across roads throughout the imperial valley. Again, we want to share our deepest appreciation and gratitude to each worker who has been out this week rebuilding the energy infrastructure that powers our communities. You are absolute heroes and we all are grateful for your tireless work and many sacrifices.

⛈️ Imperial Valley IBEW Storm Soldiers 👷‍♂️
This week over 100 power poles were wiped out in a monsoonal storm in Holtville, Calexico and Heber. Dozens of our IBEW 465 Union Utility Workers have been working around the clock to make emergency repairs and restore power to our communities. It appears that another microburst storm caused the damage, bringing down approximately over 100 poles. Our members have been assessing the full extent of the damage, making emergency repairs and are working diligently to restore every customer impacted. Please keep our IBEW Brothers and Sisters who are out in these dangerous conditions making repairs in your prayers. Thank you to everyone who is working around the clock to restore power to our communities. Thank you for being away from your families to help respond to this devastating emergency; your sacrifices and dedication are deeply appreciated. Our Imperial Valley Business Reps Denise Barraza - Torres and Joey St Pierre have been doing job site visits to deliver support to our field crews as they work in challenging conditions in service of our communities.
