📄Unfair Labor Practice Charges Filed Against IID!📄
Our IBEW 465 Team has taken the extraordinary step of formally filing Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges against the IID. They are negotiating in bad faith, which is illegal and a violation of the Public Employee Relations Act. The IID negotiation team is refusing to bargain over our proposals, refusing to allow our negotiating committee to be released from work and offering illegal-exploding offers. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE!

🙅‍♂️They think they can break the law, disregard our proposals and even violate the basic respect we deserve, and that we can do nothing about it? THEY ARE WRONG!

📢NEXT STEPS:
🕵️‍♂️Public Employee Relations Board will investigate the IID.
👨‍⚖️The IID must end their bad faith bargaining immediately.
🥊We will continue to ramp up pressure AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!
• Join us THIS TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20th at from 12:00 - 1:00pm at the IID Board Meeting in Coachella Valley.

The legal fight may take weeks but we need your help now! The IID Board meets this Tuesday, October 20th at 1pm. Our team is meeting at 12pm to rally in front of the meeting and then go inside at 1pm to give public comment.

👏IBEW 465 Safety Leader Member Appreciation👏
Today we hosted our quarterly “BBS Safety Leader of the Quarter” member appreciation luncheon where we bring together frontline members who are making a positive difference in the workplace. Our leadership fully supports our member led Behavior Based Safety (BBS) programs that exist in almost every branch of our utility from gas construction to our metering group, customer service field, gas technical services and our line construction teams.

On behalf of all our members, officers and staff we want to say THANK YOU to this quarters safety leaders for going the extra mile to make a positive difference in the safety of your coworkers. 🚨Imperial Irrigation District Negotiation Update🚨
We have just completed our first three bargaining sessions with the Imperial Irrigation District and want to share our first member update. We had bargaining sessions on
September 1st, 16th , and 30th where we introduced 18 proposals that we received from our members including proposals to increase pay, benefits, retirement and improve working conditions for our 900 frontline members who keep the lights on and the water flowing in the Imperial and Coachella Valleys.

Your IBEW 465 team attempted to begin negotiations in May of this year, when we submitted our opening proposal to IID. We have also attended every IID Board meeting throughout the year to give public comments and push for bargaining to begin. The Union believes IID has engaged in bad-faith bargaining, including delays in scheduling meetings, taking months to respond to our initial proposal (submitted in May of 2026), and agreeing to only once every two weeks for two-hour sessions. THE UNION WILL CONTINUE TO CHALLENGE THESE ACTIONS AND ADVOCATE FOR GOOD- FAITH BARGAINING IN THE COMING WEEKS! Despite these challenges, our team moved forward during at the first three sessions with the same goal – TO WIN A FAIR CONTRACT FOR OUR MEMBERS.

Our team came prepared with market research, member survey data, and 18 proposals focused on improving members’ pay, benefits, retirement, and working conditions. IID
Management team initially focused bargaining on Health Care and refused other proposals until an agreement was reached on Health and Welfare Benefits. Despite difficult bargaining, a tentative agreement was reached on H&W benefits that protects members from future increases and locks in a favorable cost share for years to come.

In addition to reaching an agreement on H&W, we have made progress on increasing retirement benefits, wages and bilingual premiums. Our IBEW Negotiation Committee will continue pushing for a fair contract for our members and their families. Going forward, we will continue demanding more frequent, full-day bargaining sessions so we can work toward to reaching an agreement by the end of the year.

📰 UTILITY WORKER PROTECTION IS NOW LAW!📰
Our advocacy and worker win wirh SB1330 was featured in the news! Eight years of fighting for stronger protections for utility workers — and now it’s law. Our members now have the same protections against assault at peace officers, healthcare professionals and firefighters!

IBEW 465, IBEW 1245 and IBEW 47 sponsored SB 1330 which strengthens penalties for assault and battery against utility workers on the job.

IBEW 1245 Senior Assistant Business Manager Ralph Armstrong spoke with CBS 13 about why these stronger protections matter for our frontline utility workers.

This victory was years in the making — and it happened because IBEW members spoke up, shared their experiences and made sure lawmakers understood the very real dangers utility workers face on the job.

Thank you to State Senator Jesse Arreguín for authoring and to our brothers and sisters at , IBEW Local 47 and the California State Association of Electrical Workers for standing together to strengthen protections for utility workers across California.

And thank you to CBS News Sacramento for highlighting this important issue.

We are less than a week from our Kick Off for Octoberstache! This year’s kick off is going to be this coming Sunday, 10/4 from 1 pm till 5 pm at Eastbound Bar and Grill in Lakeside.

“This year we will be supporting a family from the Central Zone. I introduce to you, the Murray family. While growing up in Alpine, Chad and Kayla met in middle school and began dating just after high school. Chad has proudly served with Lakeside Fire Protection District for more than 12 years and currently holds the rank of Engineer. This July 2026, Chad and Kayla will celebrate 11 years of marriage.

Together, they have built a beautiful life centered around their three daughters — Avery (9), Harper (6), and Reese (4) — who mean everything to them. Shortly after Reese was born, Kayla made the transition to become a stay-at-home mom so she could focus on raising their girls. The Murray family loves spending time together through sports, camping, and creating lasting memories with family and friends.

Just before the holidays in 2025, Kayla discovered a lump in her breast. Initially, she did not think it was anything serious, but after visiting her physician, she was referred for additional testing, including an ultrasound, mammogram, and biopsy. The results revealed an aggressive form of breast cancer known as Invasive Ductal Carcinoma with a HER2-positive mutation. During this difficult time, the family also learned that Kayla carries a rare genetic mutation called TP53, which may have contributed to her diagnosis. Kayla’s treatment journey will be long and challenging, lasting well over a year. She is currently
undergoing an intensive chemotherapy regimen and recently began round 5 of 6 on Friday, May 15. Following her final chemotherapy treatment, Kayla will undergo a double mastectomy in July. After surgery, she will continue additional treatments through at least February 2027.

Please continue to keep Kayla, Chad, and their girls in your prayers as they navigate this incredibly difficult season. Your love, support, and encouragement mean more than words can express.
