🤝Meet AFP Member David Schumacher from Shriners Children's Erie. 🌟

After previously working with a national organization, I joined AFP when I accepted a position working in the local/regional community in 2016.

By joining AFP, you join a network of professionals that are all working towards a similar goal. The AFP NWPA chapter is one of the most collaborative networks of professionals who are open to sharing best practices and ideas with fellow fundraisers.

I love the work I do at Shriners Children’s Erie because I have the pleasure of working with amazingly talented people everyday and the patients and families we serve are the best. The work we do every day makes a huge impact on the lives of others.

A piece of advice I can offer is to listen first, lead with purpose and always connect donors back to the impact of their generosity.

Fun fact about me is that I really enjoy the magic of Christmas. I could listen to Christmas music year-round and often do.

Outside of work, I enjoy coaching youth hockey, traveling with my family and staying active.

My go to coffee order = Black. But during the months of December & January, I do enjoy a skinny peppermint mocha latte. ☕

In her new role, Nicole will lead NPP's consulting services, providing customized support to nonprofits in areas such as strategic planning, governance, fundraising, leadership development, and organizational capacity building.

🤝Meet AFP Member Tammy Roche from the Barber National Institute🌟

I joined AFP, and encourage others to do so, because of the valuable professional development and networking experiences. It’s helpful to share ideas, best practices, and resources.

My favorite part about being an AFP member is the National Philanthropy Day event when so many colleagues are together.

What I love most about the work I do is the courage of asking. People want to be asked, but it takes courage and finesse to feel confident.

One piece of advice I like offer to fellow fundraisers and nonprofit professionals is to Keep learning -we are never done learning.

Fun fact about me is that my favorite childhood TV show was Little House on the Prairie.

Outside of work, I enjoy yoga, kayaking, camping, wineries/breweries, and antiques – all with my husband Matt and two twenty-something daughters.

My favorite treats are cookies and cream ice cream. 🍪🍦
