Hands Across the Sand: Our Coasts Are Not For Sale! 🌊

Last month, more than 200 participants throughout San Diego came together to say NO to offshore oil drilling, and YES to protecting California’s ocean. 🐠

It was a beautiful day, and it was powerful to see people of all ages come together to make their voices heard, stand up for the environment and clean energy, and demand change.

We’re already planning and looking forward to Hands Across The Sand 2027! Curious how you can get involved and make a difference until then?

🚨 ACTION ALERT — UPDATED HEARING DATE! 🚨

Help protect San Diego’s water, clean air, climate, and electricity affordability! Join Sierra Club San Diego to urge City Council to vote YES on Item S510: a temporary moratorium on data center development and expansion.

Our communities should not be left paying for massive data centers through higher utility bills and environmental damage. San Diego needs time to put strong safeguards in place to protect residents, our resources, and our climate goals.

Last night, our Sierra Club San Diego South County Task Force officially launched our new campaign, “From Pollution to Protection!”

This campaign is focused on advocating for permanent, long-term solutions to the Tijuana River Pollution Crisis, protecting the health of our communities, restoring our coastal ecosystems, and ensuring clean air and water for everyone who lives, works, and recreates in the South Bay.

For far too long, communities along the U.S.–Mexico border have experienced the devastating impacts of cross-border pollution. Through community organizing, public education, coalition building, and advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels, we’re working to turn this crisis into lasting environmental protection.

We need your voice to make a difference! 📣

Are you passionate about environmental justice, clean water, public health, or protecting our coastlines? Join our South County Task Force and help us advocate for a healthier, cleaner future for the South Bay!

After the Tijuana River Valley tour during the day, we headed to Coronado to officially kick off San Diego Climate Week with the Water Summit 🌊

With a powerful paddleout (hazmat suits and all), an expert panel, and lots of great conversations, San Diego showed up and demanded clean water for all.

Sierra Club San Diego is proud to endorse Martha Abraham for San Diego City Council, District 4!

One thing motherhood has taught me is my deep spiritual connection to the earth and all its inhabitants. I believe as human beings who are inhabitants of this earth, we are obligated to care for our Mother Earth. The Earth is not only beautiful, but it produces the essentials required to sustains us and the ecosystem that allows it all to work together to feed our spirit and nourish our souls.

I am honored and thankful that the Sierra Club of San Diego believes in my commitment to protect our environment. A justice often overlooked in our communities.

Proud to support Nicole Crosby for San Diego City Council, District 2!

I’m honored to be endorsed by the Sierra Club! Our beautiful beaches, canyons, cliffs, and open spaces in District 2 and San Diego must be protected so that generations to come can enjoy our natural spaces. With sea level rise and increased risk of natural disasters due to climate change, it is imperative that the City takes steps to ensure climate resilience. Sierra Club is a leader in fighting for our environment and I am grateful for their support!
