Recently, the San Diego River Park Foundation led a wildlife camera retrieval hike at one of our preserves in partnership with the County of San Diego's Warrior Hike Challenge. The cameras captured a glimpse into the San Diego River watershed's incredible biodiversity!

While the majority of images showcased grey foxes, we also documented bobcats, coyotes, rabbits, striped skunks, quail, and even the elusive ringtail.

These images are part of our Critter Cam Program, which helps guide land conservation and wildlife protection efforts throughout the Upper San Diego River Watershed. By monitoring wildlife movement in remote areas, we can identify critical habitats, support preserve management, and advance wildlife research.

Thank you to remote wildlife camera volunteers for all they do to collect vital data to better understand and protect the places wildlife call home! 🐾

Join us at our Community River Clean-up this Saturday, June 13th, from 9 am - 12 pm at Forester Creek in Santee!

Come enjoy a rewarding morning of environmental stewardship, community connection, and positive impact alongside like-minded neighbors and new friends!

Forester Creek is a vital riparian habitat home to countless native plant and animal species. Due to channelization upstream, trash accumulates at this tributary of the San Diego River, making it a high-priority area to restore. By helping clean Forester Creek, you'll contribute to the health of the entire San Diego River watershed.

BIG MILESTONE FOR THE SAN DIEGO RIVER TRAIL🎉

We’re incredibly pleased to share that the San Diego City Council and Mayor Todd Gloria approved the City’s Annual Budget, including funding to activate the West Valley River Crossing Engineering & Design Study!

We are grateful to Council President Joe LaCava, who championed this effort. We also extend our gratitude to Councilmember Stephen Whitburn, Councilmember Raul Campillo, and Councilmember Sean Elo-Rivera for their steadfast support, along with Mayor Todd Gloria and the entire City Council for their support.

This achievement belongs to every member of the West Valley Crossing Alliance and to the community members who took action by sending more than 300 advocacy letters, attending council meetings, sharing their stories, and speaking up for safer, more connected active transportation infrastructure.

Together, we’ve reached an important milestone and moved one step closer to completing a safer, more accessible, and more connected San Diego River Trail for everyone.
Thank you for making your voices heard. This victory is yours!

Happy World Ocean Day! Did you know watershed health is ocean health? Today, we want to thank our Clean River Program volunteers and interns for the innovative work they do to collect trash data and deliver strategic community cleanup efforts that have removed over 4M pounds of trash from the San Diego River watershed!

You saved this trash from becoming marine debris, harming marine animals, and degrading ocean health. As we celebrate World Ocean Day, we celebrate all the community members taking action for our waterways. Because every bottle, every plastic wrapper, every piece of trash cleaned helps create cleaner, healthier rivers and oceans.

If you’d like to join the movement to help our local waterways, join us for our Community River Cleanup. this Saturday, June 13th, from 9 am - 12 pm at Forester Creek in Santee. Sign up here:https://sandiegoriver.galaxydigital.com/need/detail/?need_id=1192017

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Friday’s City Council meeting to advocate for the West Valley Crossing! There is still time to take action.

Tomorrow, June 9 at 1 PM, the City Council may vote on this critical project, and we need five YES votes.

Join us in person or virtually and help make your voice heard. If you plan to attend, text Jillian at (619) 839-9704 for coordination and live timing updates.

The West Valley Crossing will save lives, close a dangerous gap in the San Diego River Trail, improve transit access, reduce traffic and emissions, and support Mission Valley's future growth.

Street safety is public safety. Let's get this project moving forward.
