ONYX: A Black Artist Exhibition
This is what happens when Black artists stop waiting to be found.
ONYX gathers Black artists from and based in San Diego — across painting, sculpture, sound, and everything refusing to be contained to one medium or one story. Not a survey. Not a moment. A collective portrait, still forming, still expanding.
Named for the stone — dense, layered, formed under pressure — ONYX speaks to depth, to what’s been mined and finally brought into the light.
Curated by Imani Camara: “There are simply not enough Black art exhibitions in San Diego. This is a dedicated space where Black artists are not peripheral, but central.”
