Our Muslim siblings here in Minnesota offer Salatul Ghaib, prayers in absentia for the deceased, for the victims of the shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, and we join them in praying for the victims and their families, and for the day when all people can live in peace, dignity, and freedom.

🧀 We're eating cheesecake at our next event... but why exactly?

The answer involves some clever word-play: Mount Sinai is sometimes referred to as “Har Gavnunim,” meaning “many-peaked.”

This word’s Hebrew root (ג–ו–ן) also is seen in the word, gevinah, one of the many Hebrew names for cheese.

So, as we eat cheesecake, blintzes, or kugel on Shavuot, we link ourselves back to the rich sweetness of receiving Torah.

And as we share these foods among community, we experience this moment of revelation as something we are still part of. We remind ourselves that, yes, sweetness is still here too.

And tomorrow we’ll rise again for May Day Actions that demand justice for immigrants, workers and ALL Minnesotans.

No Kings, No Pharaohs! After a communal Torah study, Jewish Community Action took to the streets to show that real power belongs to the people, not wannabe kings.

This incredible event took place just before Passover (and Palm Sunday for our Christian friends and neighbors).

Thank you for joining us in this powerful reminder that freedom isn't just handed to us—it’s something we build, protect, and win together.
