All Aboard Minnesota mourns the passing of our esteemed board member, Tom Beaumont.

Tom was a long time passenger rail advocate as not only an All Aboard Minnesota board member but also a long time member of RPA where he for several years met with the Minnesota US Congressional delegation as part of their "Day on the Hill" initiative in Washington, D.C. He was generous with his time and loved working with our members and volunteers – at Train Days, the Borealis birthday celebrations, and our annual meeting. Tom had a great sense of humor that could make any meeting or activity fun. The photo is of Tom at our board’s holiday luncheon last December.

AAMN recently learned that Borealis trains will have an additional Superliner coach car starting in early October.

This is welcome news! Since the removal of Horizon Cars in March 2025, the Borealis continues to lack adequate seating capacity. As a result, and a testament to strong ridership demand, the Borealis often sells out.

AAMN appreciates the efforts of the Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois state departments of transportation as well as Amtrak to secure this additional coach both eastbound and westbound.

This three-day gathering will convene leaders and stakeholders from across the rail industry, government, manufacturing, tourism, and community development sectors for timely discussions on the future of passenger and freight rail in Montana and across the Greater Northwest.
