St. Paul's Monastery St. Benedict. We are a community of Benedictine Sisters, Associates, Oblates, family, and friends. Our life consists of prayer and service.

Paul’s Monastery is a community of Benedictine Sisters and Associates, plus hundreds of Oblates, volunteers, and friends from the community dedicated to living out the Gospel as expressed in the Rule of St. We belong to a Federation of Benedictine Communities located throughout the world. We work in schools, parishes, nursing homes and our Benedictine Retreat Center which offers retreats and spiritual direction. Maple Tree Monastery Childcare Center is located on our campus. We support the spiritual growth of people of all faith traditions and help them find God in their daily life.

A silent retreat for people who have been practicing Centering Prayer for at least 6 months.

Join us for a weekend at the Monastery and join the Sisters for prayer while you extend your practices of Centering and Welcoming Prayer.

Take a weekend to grow closer to God, recognize patterns in your thoughts and reactions that may be holding you back, and find healing from past hurts.

Throughout the retreat, participants will take part in several periods of Centering Prayer, along with sessions to learn about and practice the Welcoming Prayer in everyday life.

A little music. A moment of welcome. A time to refuel.

At our Fall Oblate Retreat on September 26, Father Michael Peterson, OSB, played from a sampling of Indigenous flutes. In this clip, there is an excerpt of that music, as well as the voice of Jennifer Cassidy, OblSB who is part of our Oblate Leadership. She states that this retreat is a time to, "...refuel our buckets, so we can spread the blessing of our beautiful Benedictine Spirituality..."

If you would like to experience the whole retreat, we have a recording available on the St. Paul's Monastery YouTube channel:

Join Kathleen A. Cahalan for a retreat exploring the practice of Lectio Divina through scripture, creation, and sacred life experiences.

If you are new to lectio, you will learn ways to begin this practice. If you are already familiar with it, this is an opportunity to renew and immerse yourself in lectio once again.

Silence will be an important part of the retreat, the silence and rhythms of monastic life will provide a container for prayer, reflection, and attentive listening.

Kathleen Cahalan is professor emeritus of practical theology at Saint John’s University School of Theology and Seminary. Her forthcoming book, Pressing in on the Word of God: The Practice of Lectio Divina, will be published by Liturgical Press in 2026.
