Calling upon the community for support, the Saint Paul Winter Carnival is able to create a sense of pride, belonging, and connectedness for fellow Saint Paulites and Minnesotans. The Star of Boreas Foundation and the Saint Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation announced the 2026 recipients of the Sal & Francesca “Corky” LoBaido Awards today!

• Business Partnership Award:
White Bear Country Inn & Rudy’s Red Eye Grill

The recipients were selected in recognition of their long-term commitment, service and support of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival and the greater community.

Sal and Corky LoBaido represented the epitome of giving back to the community, including through their selfless support of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival. The Star of Boreas Foundation, in partnership with SPFHF, has recognized individuals and businesses and organizations with the LoBaido Awards since 1987.

The 2026 recognition dinner will be held Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m. at White Bear Country Inn. Proceeds from the event support the charitable endeavors of the Star of Boreas Foundation. Tickets are available at wintercarnival.com/events.

Leo Lewis, chair of this year’s LoBaido event, added, “We are very happy that our three award recipients accepted this recognition for their substantial contributions to the Saint Paul Winter Carnival and its affiliate organizations. On behalf of the Star of Boreas Foundation, we look forward to honoring each of them this fall.”

“As we celebrated the 140th Saint Paul Winter Carnival in 2026, we were reminded that this incredible tradition has endured because generations of people and organizations have stepped forward to give their time, talent and financial support,” said Patrick Klinger, President & CEO of the Saint Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation. “The individuals and businesses we honor with this year’s LoBaido Awards embody that spirit of generosity and commitment. They are wonderful examples of the people who make it possible for the Saint Paul Winter Carnival to not only continue, but thrive for generations to come.”

Welcome Kelsey Joson to the Foundation team!

We’re excited to welcome Kelsey Joson as the new Vice President of Strategic Partnerships for the Saint Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation, home of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival.

Kelsey brings an impressive combination of entrepreneurial experience, community leadership and a passion for bringing people together. She founded InControl, a wellness coaching organization serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the Twin Cities, and co-founded Strengthen The Strong, a 1,000 member entrepreneurship and leadership community that grew from just 12 people gathered around a lunch table in Saint Paul.

Her leadership and entrepreneurial spirit have earned her the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award from the University of Minnesota and recognition as one of the 50 Leaders You Need to Know by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

In her new role, Kelsey will focus on building meaningful corporate partnerships, memberships and strengthening relationships that help the Foundation and Winter Carnival grow and thrive.
