A beloved tradition needs businesses willing to help write its next chapter. We've seen firsthand what happens when businesses, volunteers and neighbors come together: families make memories, our downtown comes alive, and community pride shines, even on the coldest days.

As planning continues for the 2027 Carnival, additional sponsors are needed to help make that magic possible. So much of what we love about Carnival is free to attend. But it isn’t free to produce. Behind those experiences are sponsors whose investments help keep this celebration accessible to our community.

❄️👑 Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be part of a Saint Paul Winter Carnival Royal Family? This could be YOUR year!

Maybe you’ve watched the Royal Family, Klondike Kate, Vulcans or Junior and Senior Royalty at a parade. Maybe you’ve seen them at a community festival, coronation or celebration. Maybe you’ve thought, “That looks like so much fun…I wonder if I could do that?”

YES. You can. And now is the time to apply! 💙

Applications are open for the Saint Paul Winter Carnival’s Legend Characters and there are opportunities to become part of a tradition that has been bringing the Legend to life for generations.

Think of it as stepping into a role in a year-long, real-life play. You’ll become part of the Winter Carnival story, build friendships that can last a lifetime, and represent the Carnival at parades, festivals and community events throughout Minnesota and beyond.

And trust us, you don’t have to have grown up in Winter Carnival to become part of it. You just need a sense of adventure, a love of community and a willingness to say YES to an experience you’ll never forget.

Our Saint Paul Winter Carnival family is heartbroken to learn of the passing of Lady of Boreas Joy Cortinas, beloved wife of former King Boreas, Steve Cortinas.

Joy was a cherished part of our Winter Carnival family, and her legacy lives on through Steve, their sons, grandchildren, family and the many people whose lives she touched.

Steve shared today that his “Yellow Rose” fought a long and courageous fight and was so very tired. His words are a beautiful reminder to all of us to hold the people we love close and treasure the time we are given together.

To Steve and the entire Cortinas family: your Winter Carnival family surrounds you with love, prayers and our deepest sympathy. We grieve with you, we remember Joy with you, and we are grateful that she will forever be part of the legacy and history of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival.

Rest peacefully, Lady Joy. 🌹💛

Since 1916, the Order of the Royal Guard has been part of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival. Generations of Guards have put on their blue coats, stepped into the winter cold, and made memories with friends old and new. 💙

Ask a past Guard about Winter Carnival and you’ll hear about the people who stood beside them, the friendships that lasted long after the snow melted, and the moments they shared throughout Saint Paul.

The Blue Coat Dinner brings generations of the King’s Guard together to celebrate the 2026 King’s Guard and the traditions that make this organization so special.

We hope you’ll join for an evening of friendship, fellowship, and celebration! 👑
