🎾 94 players. One incredible community. Endless impact.

Our 6th annual Courtney’s Court Challenge Memorial Tennis Tournament was our biggest Rochester tournament yet, helping bring our total impact to more than $88,000 raised for 13thirty Cancer Connect's peer programs over the past six years.

Thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, sponsored, donated, and cheered from the sidelines. It is an honor to host Courtney’s Court Challenge in memory of our beloved 13thirty member, Courtney Ferrara Wilhelm (breast cancer). Together, we celebrate her life, spirit, and love of tennis.💙

The stars shine the brightest on the darkest night.✨

Today, we honor Melissa’s extraordinary life, though far too short. Her life continues to touch so many—her legacy present in every conversation, every connection, and every step forward in our mission. There is still much work to be done, and we carry the promise forward that was made to her 26 years ago.💙🦋

Please take a moment today to read and reflect on Melissa’s story: at https://13thirty.org/melissas-story/

As Father’s Day approaches, Lesson 9 shares Melissa’s own words to Doug – the man who, in every way that mattered, was her dad and who truly made a difference in her life.💙🦋

This quarter, Comedy Club was all about stand-up!🎙️🤣

We kicked off the evening writing together, quickly discovering we all share at least one experience of the ridiculous things people say to AYAs after a cancer diagnosis. From awkward comments to well-meaning but unforgettable "advice," there was no shortage of material.

Then it was time for our members to take the spotlight solo, turning their experiences into original jokes they performed for the whole group.

Comedy Club is more than just laughing in the face of cancer, it's a chance to find connection through shared experiences and discover that you're not the only one navigating the chaos, challenges, and absurd moments cancer can bring.

Is there any better way to kick off the warm weather than indulging in a little schoolyard nostalgia with a game of kickball?

Members hit the field at Highland Park for a sunset game full of laughter, enthusiastic cheering, and even a little physical fitness to boot!

Sometimes the simplest nights remind us that a little playfulness and connection can fill our cups more than we realize.☀️🥎💙

Lesson 8 is dedicated to nurses.💙🦋Nurses answer the call - with strength, compassion, and grace. Even before cancer, Melissa knew the difference nurses could make - and wanted to have the same impact.

🎉 Happy Birthday to our incredible Program Director, Michaela!💙

Today we’re celebrating someone who brings kindness, creativity, laughter, and warmth to everything she does. Whether she’s creating a welcoming space for our members, speaking on the news, sharing our mission with the community, or using her own cancer experience to support others through theirs, Michaela truly makes a difference every single day.🦋

Wishing you a year filled with scenic hikes, art shows, painting, and lots of bird watching! Join us in wishing Michaela the happiest of birthdays! 🎂✨

Lesson 7: Laughter doesn't diminish grief, and joy doesn't erase heartbreak—but they can exist side by side. Sometimes, laughter, when least expected, gets us through life’s hardest moments and becomes a memory to cherish.💙🦋

Lesson 6: When Melissa relapsed again just days before leaving for the University of Pennsylvania, there was nothing left to do. Nothing except live—which Melissa continued to do with passion. Throughout all the challenges, Melissa viewed herself as always living, never dying. She decided to go to UPenn anyway. For eight short weeks, Melissa embraced life as a "college kid."

Melissa never stopped living—a joyous, "turn your head to the sky and shout" kind of living. Melissa taught us that life isn't measured by its length, but by how fully we choose to live it.💙🦋
