Causewave Community Partners How Change Gets Going In January of 2016, The Advertising Council of Rochester announced a new name for the organization, Causewave Community Partners.

For most of our 65-year history, our name described us well. But the world has changed. Our community's needs have evolved, and so has our work. Today, advertising is just one of many tools we use to address complex problems within nonprofit organizations, and within the community. Our new name, Causewave Community Partners, represents what we've always been about – putting the cause first in everything we do. It represents movement – because momentum is necessary to find solutions for tough problems. And it represents collaboration – because we can't – and don’t – do this work alone. This new name also supports our long-term vision: that we will be a community known for addressing big challenges through collaboration, and that this organization will be one of the primary justifications for that reputation. We're excited for the future we'll create together. With your help, Causewave Community Partners will be a powerful force for good in our community.

It was a pleasure to welcome Dr. Paul Allwood and Quanza Griffin from the CDC’s Lead Poisoning Prevention & Surveillance Branch to Rochester! The CDC is a funder of the Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning, housed at Causewave.

During their visit, they spent time with members of the Coalition and our team to learn more about the work happening across our community.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share a little bit of Rochester, highlight the work happening here, and show them what makes our community so special. Thank you, Paul and Quanza, for visiting and spending time with us!

Another great workshop with Ray, our Senior Manager of Grant Capacity Building! 💙

Ray recently led “Grant Writing for Nonprofit Executives” with the Council of Agency Executives, covering readiness, writing, and relationships with a focus on true-cost budgeting, breaking the nonprofit starvation cycle, and building strong partnerships. We also had some fun along the way with a rock-paper-scissors tournament and prizes!

Even better, 92% of participants said they’re very likely to use the tools they learned.

We have some bittersweet news to share: Kate Herrmann, our Senior Program Manager, has retired from Causewave.

For more than five years, Kate has been a valued member of the Causewave team and a trusted partner to nonprofit organizations of all sizes. She has helped organizations navigate everything from board development and strategic planning to marketing and fundraising, always bringing thoughtful perspective, creative solutions, and a deep understanding of the nonprofit sector.

Kate has been a true strategic counsel to our nonprofit partners, and her commitment to helping organizations and the communities they serve thrive has made a meaningful and lasting impact.

We had the opportunity to celebrate Kate’s retirement with colleagues and former colleagues who have had the pleasure of working with her over the years. It was a wonderful way to recognize the many relationships she has built and the impact she has had throughout her time at Causewave and beyond.
