IBR Student Symposium

In September, Adjunct Professor Chris Landon and Northeastern Seminary Student Raquel Diaz presented at the Institute for Biblical Research Graduate Student Symposium. This conference is intended to provide opportunities for graduate students in biblical studies to present their research, receive feedback on their project from senior scholars, and gain experience presenting at an academic conference.

Chris presented a paper entitled, "It's Not Funny Anymore: Reading the Book of Judges Through the Lens of Satire," which is a part of his current dissertation project. He will be presenting this paper again at the Annual Meeting for the Society of Biblical Literature in Denver this November.

Raquel presented a paper entitled "An Intertextual Reading of the Shofetim in Judges Through the Mosaic Judicial Framework of Exodus 18:20-21." She presented a related paper at the Canadian American Theological Association (CATA) Fall Conference at Roberts Wesleyan University.

The Apprentice Gathering

It was an absolute joy to be at The Apprentice Gathering in Wichita, Kansas again in September! Connecting with our School of Kingdom Living partners at Dallas Willard Ministries, our seminary students engaging in important spiritual formation work near and far, marinating in wisdom from speakers like Tish Harrison Warren and Darryl Williamson, and learning from Northeastern Seminary emeritus spiritual formation professor Dr. Rebecca Letterman's work on Adrian van Kaam were just the tip of the iceberg.

This year's conference theme was Foundations of Faith Formation: The Bible, Theology, & Liturgy in a Spiritual Journey. Hospitality at its finest, TAG is a true representation of the body of Christ's movement in our world and Northeastern Seminary was honored to be a part of it again.
