This Memorial Day, the RTMA honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

We are also proud to support Veterans as they transition into rewarding careers in advanced manufacturing through the RTMA’s sponsorship of the New York State Registered Apprenticeship Program. With approval from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veteran apprentices are now eligible for GI Bill and other VA educational benefits while building hands-on careers in our manufacturing industry.

Thank you to all who have served and continue to strengthen our communities and workforce.

For more information about veteran apprentices, please contact Bill Rotenberg at [email protected]

This is Small Business Week – a time to celebrate the dozens of RTMA members from family-owned businesses, local shops and more! Small businesses are the backbone of our community and local economy. We’re proud to celebrate our small business members alongside those who have grown to larger teams, ranging from just 3 employees to over 350. Regardless of company size, the RTMA remains committed to supporting every member’s continued growth and success.

On Day 5, the concluding day of National Apprenticeship Week, we’re proud to highlight the lasting impact of the RTMA’s FLYAP program.

FLYAP since its inception in 2018, has placed dozens of students in local manufacturing companies. The program was created to build a pipeline to get more youth into the workforce. Here are some examples of those who were FLYAP students and are now apprentices or Journey workers at local companies.

From classroom to career, these success stories represent what’s possible when education and industry come together. This is what workforce development looks like in action.

Manufacturers: the future of your workforce is already here, let’s continue to build it together.

Day 4 of National Apprenticeship Week is all about the future and how AI is expanding access and opportunity in Registered Apprenticeship.

At the RTMA, we’re proud to partner with RIT National Technical Institute for the Deaf to create more inclusive pathways into manufacturing for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students. By integrating AI-powered tools into our training environments, we’re helping break down communication barriers in real time.

From PowerPoint’s live captioning and subtitles during presentations to tools like Otter.ai that provide real-time transcription in classrooms and on the shop floor, technology is making apprenticeship more accessible, engaging, and equitable.

This is what innovation in workforce development looks like, meeting learners where they are and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Day 3 of National Apprenticeship Week | Part 2
Apprenticeship isn’t just a workforce solution, it’s a long-term investment in people and companies in the Rochester and Finger Lakes region.

At the RTMA, we’re proud to see the impact of our NYS Registered Apprenticeship Program continue to grow:
• 80+ apprentices registered
• 24 participating companies
• 9 new signatory companies in 2025
• 11 advanced manufacturing trades supported
• Over $1M secured to fund education, tools, and training

These numbers represent more than growth, they reflect real opportunities. Opportunities for individuals to build meaningful careers, and for manufacturers to develop skilled, reliable talent from within.
Registered Apprenticeship creates a direct pipeline from learning to earning, combining hands-on experience with structured education. It’s how we strengthen our workforce today while preparing for tomorrow.

Manufacturers: if you’re looking to build your talent pipeline, we’re here to help. Please contact Bill Rotenberg at [email protected] if you are interested or visit our website at https://lnkd.in/eRXMQfmE
