💙 Today is World Autism Awareness Day 💙

At the Autism Council of Rochester, today is more than awareness — it is about understanding, acceptance, and meaningful inclusion.

Established by the United Nations, World Autism Awareness Day reminds us of the importance of ensuring that individuals on the autism spectrum are seen, supported, and valued in every space — from our schools and workplaces to our healthcare systems and communities.

For over 25 years, we have stood in this community alongside families, educators, and community partners advocating for:

✨ Early identification and support
✨ Access to quality education and services
✨ Opportunities for independence and employment
✨ Dignity, respect, and full inclusion

To our families — we see you. We honor your strength, your advocacy, and your unwavering love.

To our community — awareness is just the beginning. True impact happens when we move from awareness to acceptance, and from acceptance to action.

Let us continue to build a Rochester where every individual on the spectrum is empowered to thrive.

💙 With you, always.

✨🌟 City Hope Ministry** ✨🌟

Grateful for the ministry training invite from City Hope Ministries in Gates, led by the amazing Co-Pastors Justin & Hannah Bowersox. In my 25 years of conducting these sessions, this was my first request from a church. God opened this unexpected new door for 2025, and I have now received requests from other ministries.

The session focused on **"Building Bridges and Creating Inclusive Spaces for Neurodiverse Youth"**—a message so close to my heart. Together, we explored how to truly show the love of Christ through **acceptance** and **celebration** of neurodiversity.
This wonderful ministry is setting the bar high! Families with children and young adults with Autism will be greeted with **respect, love, and honor** in this Christ-centered community. 💙
I am so inspired by City Hope Church's commitment to inclusivity and its passion for making every individual feel seen, valued, and loved. This is what the true love of Christ looks like in action!
Here’s to creating spaces where everyone belongs. 🙌

🌟I’m thrilled to partner with the incredible Marshann Thomas, Director for Monroe Community College's Collegiate Science & Technology Program (CSTEP)! 🎉 As one of the keynote speakers, along with the phenomenal Dr. Tyana Velazquez-Smith, Phd I’m honored to contribute to an insightful session dedicated to exploring the unique challenges and opportunities that students on the autism spectrum face in higher education.

Tomorrow, October 12th, from 9 AM to 4 PM, we’ll dive deep into navigating college life, fostering academic success, and creating supportive environments both in and out of the classroom. It's crucial to shine a light on the support systems students need to thrive, and I’m excited to be part of this vital conversation. 💡

Looking forward to a day of learning, sharing, and making a positive impact. Let’s ensure every student, regardless of their challenges, has the opportunity to excel! 🙌
