Harbor House of Rochester, Inc.

Harbor House of Rochester, Inc. Welcome to Harbor House! Our goal is to create a comforting home away from home during challenging times.

As a not-for-profit hospitality house, we provide a warm, supportive, and affordable place to stay for those in need of temporary lodging. Just two short blocks from the University of Rochester Medical Center, Harbor House is an easy walk away from loved ones who are in the hospital with a serious medical condition. We give family members a chance to relax, rest and revive themselves after long days and nights in the hospital as they care for their loved one.

What Goes Around Comes Around! We all know there's a slew of risk factors that increase the likelihood of heart disease: Smoking, poor diet, lack of exercise and chronic stress are the obvious culprits. But did you know cancer therapies, particularly for blood cancers, can have long-term cardiovascular effects? So what can we do about it?

Harbor House will be Lighting the Night for Blood Cancer Awareness Month on Saturday September 19 in a special collaboration with the Buffalo office of Blood Cancer United and Rochester's St. John's Living. Please join us for a memorable and illuminating 'walk' to end blood cancers and learn about the emerging cardio-oncology therapies and lifestyle changes that lead to better outcomes and quality of life for people living with blood cancer!

More info and ways to support the walk below!

About Light The Night At Blood Cancer United’s Light The Night we gather as a community to celebrate, honor, and remember those touched by blood cancer. Companies, community partners, friends, families, and sponsors join together to instill hope and bring light to the darkness of cancer. The dolla...

A positive outlook along with patience and calmness are often the keys to recovery and resilience. Our guest Lorie and her partner patient Lorraine certainly bring those keys to the journey. It was a bumpy road but Lorraine now has her LVAD and is hopeful to get on the transplant list for a new heart in the near future!

We Believe in Miracles! And so do these very special guests whose son, nephew and brother just underwent a complicated but very successful liver transplant operation at Strong! Congrats to patient Augusto, and to (left to right) Ana (his Mom), Carmen (his aunt), and brothers Pablo and Juan Carlos, and of course Augusto's all-star team of doctors for making it through this life-saving feat!

A Light Forever Shining on Harbor House. This week Thursday July 9 marks the passing of beloved House Manager Mary Katherine Crowley. A native of Canandaigua, Mary was a beacon for guests at Harbor House and gave them strength and comfort during their darkest moments. Mary found solace in reading a good book as well as taking care of her beautiful garden. She also expressed her creativity through cooking and playing the violin. Above all, Mary had a zest for life and for instilling her own resilience in the lives of others. Please join Harbor House this month as we honor and cherish her memory.

Heartfelt Thanks with a Big Shout Out and Kudos to the Rochester Curling Club and our friend Steve Elliott for choosing Harbor House as their 2026 beneficiary/recipient of the proceeds from their Gathering Tournament this year! The sport of curling has a long and distinguished history: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curling, and the Rochester Curling Club has been going strong since 1961! We are so blessed to have organizations and partners like them in our community!

Kudos and and a colossal Thank You to our 'Day of Caring' crew from Constellation Brands: Joel, Kathy, Mitch, Alicia, Sydney and Michael! They knocked it out of the park by completing much needed weeding, mulching, trimming, washing windows, painting and more--it was a great day for getting things done at Harbor House and we couldn't have done it without them!!
