Looking for a place to take fall photos? The grounds of Pump House Park are open dawn to dusk! The Pump House’s Gothic Revival architecture serves as a great backdrop for costumed photos and the 1/3 mile tree-lined trail loop is starting to get colorful. 🍁🍂

We saw this festive group of friends getting in to the Halloween spirit today. We’d love to see your Halloween photos- send us DM!

This Saturday!! 🐦‍⬛

Secure your tickets now for Poe at the Pump House. Chris Semtner, curator of the The Poe Museum , will perform dramatic readings of the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Performances are at 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm on Saturday, Oct. 24th and include a 20 minute tour of the Pump House, followed by a 40 minute performance. Saturday, October 24th, 2026 @ 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00 p.m.

Our most popular event is back for another ghoulish installment! Get your tickets while you can - this one is sure to be extra spooky with Halloween right around the corner.

Come for a tour of Richmond's historic Byrd Park Pump House & listen to dramatic readings of Edgar Allan Poe's greatest works! This historic building & its open-air ballroom offer the perfect venue for what has become an annual tradition at the Pump House. Each performance includes a 20-minute tour of the building followed by a 40-minute dramatic reading in the upstairs ballroom performed by the Poe Museum's own curator, Chris Semtner.

We hope to see you this Saturday!

From 8am-12pm we are hosting our volunteer work day. No handy skills necessary, we have jobs for all levels! Can only make it for part of the morning? We'd still love to have you lend a hand.

From 1pm-3pm we are hosting guided tours. Tours are walk-in, lasts about 30 minutes, and start at 1pm, 1:30pm, 2pm, and 2:30pm. $10 suggested donation at the door.

Featured in this photo is an old railroad frog, found just a few feet south of the lower canal by the Pump House boiler room. This piece of railroad helps trains smoothly transition onto another track. We dug this one up on one of our workdays and worked together to get it inside the building. Once we have a contractor locked in, we plan to mount the piece on cement in its original location, complete with an informational kiosk. More to come! We'll likely be fundraising for this project.

Interested in learning more about what we do in Friends of Pump House? Each month we hold a board meeting to discuss current and upcoming events and projects at the Pump House. These meetings alternate between in-person and virtual, to best accommodate our board members’ schedules and are open to the public.
