We are standing at the beginning of our fifth season and look ahead to our first-ever festival in June, we wanted to share a little of the story behind the Belvedere Series: where we began, what we believe, and what we hope to create.
Belvedere was born from a simple idea: that extraordinary music can become something even more powerful when we think deeply about where we hear it, how we encounter it, and who we experience it with.
The room matters.
The people beside you matter.
The conversation before and after matters.
A concert can be more than a performance. It can be an encounter with an artist, with a place, with another person, perhaps even with something in ourselves.
Over four seasons, that idea has grown into something we could never have built alone.
There are so many people to thank: the extraordinary artists who have trusted us with their music; the donors and sponsors who have believed in what Belvedere could become; our board, staff, volunteers, venue partners and collaborators; and, above all, the audiences who keep walking through the door.
For every concert shared with a friend. Every conversation over a glass of w**e. Every laugh. Every unexpected tear. Every familiar face. Every new one.
Somewhere along the way, this has begun to feel like a family.
And now we’re dreaming a little bigger.
In June, Belvedere will move across Richmond, into historic houses, churches, concert halls and unexpected spaces, inviting artists and audiences to experience the city and the music differently.
Richmond becomes a landscape of discovery.
To everyone who has been part of the journey so far: thank you.
