Thank you to the Virginia Commission for the Arts for supporting our 2026–27 season opener at the American Civil War Museum – Historic Tredegar with a Community Impact Grant.
This powerful evening features the Grammy-winning Harlem Quartet and the world premiere of String Quartet No. 2: Reconstruction by acclaimed composer Damien Geter—a new work commissioned by The Belvedere Series.
Presented during the 250th anniversary year of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the program invites audiences into a deeply resonant reflection on American history, memory, and possibility.
“Reconstruction marked a moment of profound possibility that collapsed into disenfranchisement and violence,” writes Geter. “The era’s fleeting triumphs and painful undoing continue to echo through our national consciousness.”
Following the performance, all ticket holders will enjoy private after-hours access to the museum galleries, offering a rare opportunity to experience the site’s exhibitions in an intimate setting.
Tickets on sale July 27 for donors and subscribers, and August 3 for the general public.
Our 2026–27 season begins with history, artistry, and the urgent power of live performance. We can't wait for you to join us.
