NextUp For every child in an afterschool program in Virginia, four are waiting to get in (Afterschool Alliance - America After 3PM).

There’s a rising demand for greater access to afterschool and summer programs helping youth ages 11 – 19:
- Engage in positive activities that align with their personal interests
- Explore potential career paths
- Improve self-confidence and self-efficacy
- Increase attendance rates, graduation rates, and positive feelings about school
- Connect with peers, mentors, and community leaders

NextUp

is an intermediary organization helps equip and mobilize a network of 150+ youth development organizations to serve Richmond youth. We embed partners’ afterschool and summer programs in Richmond Public Middle Schools and support programs across Richmond through the city’s Positive Youth Development initiative. Together, we expand access to safe, enriching out-of-school time opportunities that come at no cost to families.
