This Pride Month, we celebrate the resilience, joy, and leadership of LGBTQIA+ young people across Virginia.

Every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and free to be fully themselves. Creating a Virginia where all young people can thrive means building communities, systems, and opportunities where everyone belongs.

🌈 Happy Pride Month.

Behind every data point is a real person navigating real systems.

A family searching for affordable childcare.
A young person trying to access mental health support.
A caregiver making impossible decisions with limited resources.

Data helps us understand trends. But lived experience helps us understand impact.

The strongest solutions happen when the people most affected by policies, systems, and decisions are part of shaping them.

What has life taught you that data never could?

05.11.26: We made history

This week, Virginia’s Paid Family & Medical Leave program was signed into law, marking a historic step forward for families, caregivers, workers, and young people across the Commonwealth.

This moment is joyful, but it did not happen overnight.

Policy does not happen in a vacuum. It takes time. It takes partnership. It takes organizing, storytelling, coalition-building, and persistence from families, advocates, lawmakers, and communities who keep showing up.

This bill signing represents more than a policy win. It is the culmination of years of work to move Virginia closer to a future where no one has to choose between caring for themselves or their loved ones and earning a paycheck.

Today, more than 3 million Virginians can breathe a little easier.

We’re grateful to have witnessed this moment and to continue working alongside partners committed to building a Virginia where families have what they need to thrive.

We’re celebrating this joyful moment while honoring the years of advocacy, partnership, organizing, storytelling, and persistence that made it possible.

Families, advocates, coalition partners, and lawmakers kept pushing for a Virginia where people don’t have to choose between caring for their loved ones and earning a paycheck.

Stay tuned for a full recap tomorrow.

What if prevention started before crisis?

We often talk about prevention as something that happens in response to harm. But real prevention starts much earlier.
If we want fewer families to reach crisis, we have to invest in what happens before it.
