Meeting families in their own space—from pregnancy through early childhood. 💙

That is exactly what Delegate Lily Franklin experienced when she joined CHIP of New River Valley for a home visit in Southwest Virginia!

Through programs like CHIP of Virginia, Families Forward Virginia supports home visiting professionals who build trusted relationships with families while providing personalized guidance, developmental support, and connections to essential community resources.

A big thank-you to Delegate Franklin for spending time with this wonderful family and seeing firsthand how home visiting helps children thrive, parents feel supported, and families grow stronger.

Comprehensive Support Drives Economic Mobility!!!

Virginia’s CHIP program takes a two-generation, whole-family approach to strengthening economic security and family well-being!

Each family is paired with a registered nurse and a parent educator, who provide in-home support addressing health, parenting, and family well-being goals.

These supports allow families not only to secure employment but to build long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

A week ago today, a portion of the Goochland County Lemonade Stand Team (there were eight children in total) stopped by the Families Forward Virginia state office to deliver their incredible $511 donation, and they were absolutely beaming as they shared how they raised the funds.

What struck me most was the spirit behind it. They saw an opportunity, rallied together, and turned lemons into lemonade—literally and figuratively. Their creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm are such a wonderful reminder that even small ideas can grow into something that makes a real difference for children and families.

It was such a joyful visit and a powerful example of young people coming together to do something positive for their community. Their kindness, determination, and generosity left a big impression on all of us.

Big thanks and gratitude to Bonnie (the Lemonade Stand Team parent leader), who said, "Our hope is to instill the importance of giving back to the community and the power of compassion."
