Communities In Schools of Wayne County

Communities In Schools of Wayne County All students deserve the opportunity to soar. Students’ futures should be determined by their effort, not by their background, ability or zip code.

Summer should feel like summer. But a little learning sprinkled in can help students return to school feeling more confident and ready.

A few easy ways to keep learning going:
Read together for 10–15 minutes.
Let kids help with grocery lists and budgeting.
Practice math while cooking or baking.
Visit the library.
Write postcards, journal entries, or silly stories.
Ask “why” and “how” questions during everyday moments.

It does not have to look like school to count as learning.
Sometimes the best summer learning happens in the car, at the beach, in the kitchen, or while asking one million questions before bedtime.

Big support makes a big difference.
As we close out our year, we want to highlight businesses, organizations, and individuals who help make what we do possible. Today we want to recognize our Community of Support Sponsors, who gave $10,000 or more to help CIS of Wayne County serve students across our community.

Because of this level of support, students have access to caring adults, basic needs, academic support, attendance help, and connections that remove barriers during the school year. This work does not happen alone.

To our Community of Support Sponsors: thank you for standing with students, families, schools, and our Site Coordinators. Your generosity helps make support possible where students need it most.

We’re headed to the ballpark! We to be featured as a Richmond Flying Mummies Non-Profit of the Night on Saturday June 27th!!
We’ll be at the ballpark sharing more about our work, connecting with the community, and cheering on the Mummies. If you’ve been looking for a fun way to support local students, this is it.

We’ll be sharing more soon, but for now,
Mark your calendar.
Grab your crew.
Come cheer on the Flying Mummies with us!

We’re in the final week of school, and we are feeling ALL the feelings. Excitement. Exhaustion. Pride. A little chaos. Maybe a suspicious amount of caffeine.

To every student wrapping up the school year, we are cheering you on. You made it through the homework, the early mornings, the tests, the projects, the growth, and all the little moments in between.

To the Class of 2026, CONGRATULATIONS! You did it. We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see what comes next.

And to our teachers, staff, bus drivers, school counselors, administrators, and everyone who kept the year moving, THANK YOU!! You showed up, poured into students, handled the hard days, celebrated the wins, and somehow survived another school year like absolute champions.

Here’s to finishing strong, celebrating big, and heading into summer with full hearts and hopefully a little rest.

Only ONE week left of school, and we couldn’t let the year end without celebrating the people who show up for students every single day.

Today, we’re celebrating our CIS Site Coordinators with good food, sweet treats, and even better conversations. These are the people doing the hard work behind the scenes all year long, and we are so grateful for the care, support, and consistency they bring to students across Wayne County.

A huge thank you to Downtown Deli and Catering Company and Schroeder Delights and Dough for helping us spoil our team with amazing food and cupcakes!

Communities In Schools of Wayne County is so grateful to United Way of Whitewater Valley - Wayne & Union Counties for their grant support of our Site Coordination Program.

This funding helps strengthen the work happening every day inside our partner schools, where CIS Site Coordinators build relationships with students, connect families to resources, and help remove barriers that can stand in the way of learning.

Because of partners like United Way of Whitewater Valley, students across Wayne County have trusted adults in their corner, ready to listen, support, encourage, and help them stay on track. We are thankful for their continued investment in our students, our schools, and our community.

Communities In Schools of Wayne County is grateful to Reid Health for providing grant funding to support our Athletic Assistance program.

Because of this support, we can help remove financial barriers that may prevent students from participating in school sports. This assistance helps cover expenses such as sports registration fees and necessary equipment for students who may otherwise be unable to participate due to cost.

School sports can give students a place to belong, build confidence, stay connected, and be part of a team. Thanks to Reid Health, more students will have the opportunity to experience those benefits.

We are so thankful for community partners who believe in supporting the whole student, in the classroom and beyond.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Today we’re celebrating the classroom champions, pencil-finders, snack-sharers, confidence-builders, problem-solvers, lesson-planners, patience-havers, and “try it one more time” encouragers who show up for students every single day.

Teachers, we see the heart you pour into your classrooms. The extra time, the creative ideas, the calm in the chaos, and the way you make students feel known, supported, and capable. You make a difference in ways that last far beyond one school year, and we are so grateful for you.

Thank you for being amazing. You deserve all the coffee, snacks, appreciation, and fully functioning copy machines this week!

Pop Quiz for a Purpose was a BLAST! The food was delicious, the competition was fierce, the laughs were loud, and the support in the room was everything we hoped for and more.

To our sponsors, teams, silent auction bidders, donors, volunteers, and every single person who showed up, THANK YOU!! You made the night fun, but even more importantly, you helped fuel the work we do every day for students across Wayne County.

Every ticket, every bid, every sponsorship, and every cheer from the room helps CIS of Wayne County continue to surround students with the support they need to stay in school and succeed. This night was more than trivia. It was a community showing up with purpose.

We are so grateful, still smiling, and already looking forward to the next one! Check out some of our favorite moments from the night!
