Volunteer Spotlight: Hannibal

Hannibal shows up consistently for Street Outreach & Family Night and our other outreach events, always with a smile and always intentional about connecting with the people around him!

Here is his heart for serving, in his own words:

"At one time, I was just like anyone else. I was in need of some love. I was in need of some prayer. I was in need of a handshake or a hug. And I found it here at Raleigh Dream Center.

By God's grace, He took me out of that wilderness and brought me into the light of Christ. Before that, I was in a dark world, just walking that path away from the Lord. But today, you're really talking to a miracle. I thank God every day for where I am now.

Now I want to represent Christ to the fullest. That's why I keep coming back to volunteer at Family Night.

When folks come in to get a meal and hear the good word, I like to just sit down and talk to them. I tell them a little about my story, and hear a little about theirs. And we can relate. They might have some encouraging words for me, and I might have some for them. You just never know what can help somebody throughout their day, throughout their life.

I look at the people who come through those doors, and a lot of them have been down the same roads I have. So it's not so hard to give back. It's not hard to say a kind word, give a hug, a smile. Because I've been there, and I know it makes all the difference.

Everybody has a purpose. His purpose. But it's Christ. Christ is what makes the difference."

A Day in the Life of Mobile Food Pantry! 🍎

Take a behind-the-scenes look at our consistent food ministry. Every month, we bring an average of 100,000 pounds of groceries directly into under-resourced neighborhoods across the Triangle, at no cost to the families we serve.

Mobile Food Pantry is covered in prayer. It is a place where relationships are built, needs are met, and the hope of the Gospel is shared.

The countdown is on! Raleigh Dream Center's Night of Dreams Gala is just 8 weeks away on Sunday, October 4th and we still have seats waiting to be filled.

This is not just a night out. It is an opportunity to fuel a mission centered on bringing hope and restoration through the message of the Gospel, while supporting the work happening across our community through food outreach, street and homelessness outreach, community outreach, and programs for kids. It is a night that fuels real recovery for men and women walking out of addiction and into new life.

Every ticket, sponsorship, and every seat at the table all adds up to lives changed in 2027.

πŸ‘‰ Secure your spot today before tickets are gone. event.gives/rdcnightofdreams2026

Sponsor a Meal: Looking for an even more hands-on opportunity? Your group can sponsor a meal from start to finish, helping make Family Night possible for our community.

We have several open dates this fall and would love to fill the calendar with churches, businesses, small groups, and community teams ready to serve.

As grocery prices climb, more of our neighbors are being forced to choose between paying a bill and putting a meal on the table.

Our Mobile Food Pantry meets that need head-on. Every month, we bring on average 100,000 pounds of groceries directly into under-resourced neighborhoods across the Triangle, at no cost to the families we serve. This is made possible through partnerships with Wegmans, Costco, Harris Teeter, Target, Food Lion, Amazon Fresh, and the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC.

But every stop is more than a food line. It is a place covered in prayer, where relationships are built and the hope of the Gospel is shared.

Here are three ways you can step in:

-Host a food drive and donate non-perishable food items. Gather your church, workplace, or neighborhood and help restock our shelves. tinyurl.com/foodRDC

- Give. Your gift fuels our food outreach all year long. raleighdreamcenter.org/donate

- Pray. Lift up the families in our community receiving food, prayer, and the hope of the Gospel.

This past Saturday, we had the joy of serving at our Adopt-A-Block sites across the Triangle!

Every 2nd and 4th Saturday, volunteers gather in the same neighborhoods, on the same streets, knocking on the same doors. For a couple of hours, we distribute groceries, play games with children, pray with families, pick up trash, and share the hope of the Gospel through relationships that have been built over time.

When we return to the same places month after month, year after year, we get to see what only God can do. We have watched children grow up and become teenagers. Neighbors have become friends. Conversations have deepened. Trust has grown. Peace has taken root. Opportunities to share Christ continue to open. And we get to celebrate milestones together, like the start of a new school year!

Some of our Adopt-A-Block sites have been faithfully serving the same communities for more than 11 years. Faithful presence is rarely the loudest work, but we have seen God use it in beautiful ways.

Thank you to every volunteer who gives their Saturday mornings, every church that partners with us, and every donor whose generosity makes this ministry possible. Your faithfulness helps us keep showing up consistently, and we are grateful.

If you would like to help us continue serving neighborhoods across the Triangle, you can give at raleighdreamcenter.org/donate.
