As housing costs remain high across the Triangle, affordable housing advocates, builders and real estate leaders are searching for ways to expand options for residents increasingly priced out of the market. Habitat Greater Raleigh's CEO, Patricia Burch, spoke to ABC11 about the issue and how Habitat is working to create solutions.

Habitat for Humanity Greater Raleigh is proud to announce a $500,000 gift from First Citizens Bank to support our Revolving Loan Fund, providing flexible capital to help expand affordable homeownership opportunities across Wake, Johnston and Franklin counties.

We enjoyed hosting local branch associates and leaders representing markets across the South, from West Virginia to Georgia, for a wall build and check presentation recently, showing the hands-on commitment First Citizens’ has to strengthening the communities they serve.

What a great summer it's been for our Summer of Service interns! 14 students have finished 120+ hours of volunteer service with Habitat Greater Raleigh on the construction site and in the ReStores. We can't wait to see what's next for them and wish them success in the upcoming school year!

Earlier this week, 72 Duke University students participated in Project Habitat, volunteering at Habitat ReStores and build sites across the Triangle as part of Duke's Experiential Orientation.

On day one, students split between the Cary, Raleigh, Durham-Chapel Hill, Hillsborough and Brier Creek ReStores, spending the morning assisting the team while learning more about Habitat’s mission and the role ReStores play in supporting affordable housing.

“Project Habitat is an orientation group centered on community service, and that is a value we are instilling in our freshmen right from the start,” said Dani, Duke University sophomore and Project Habitat orientation leader. “My favorite part of last year was being able to go out and make a difference during my first week at Duke. I ended up joining the Habitat for Humanity Club, and it set the tone for how involved I wanted to be.”

Pope Leo Village is a multi-city initiative inspired by an anonymous donor honoring Pope Leo’s commitment to serving others.

Since we started Pope Leo Village in our Old Poole Place neighborhood in October 2025, more than 1,300 youth have volunteered with us.
