Our Center is dedicated to enhancing community health, family engagement and youth leadership.

The Center for Family and Community Engagement (CFACE) is a public service and research center at North Carolina State University, founded in 2008. The Center fosters family-community-academic partnerships that are relevant and responsive to families and communities by supporting community engagement, offering training and technical assistance, and providing evaluation and research. We work with interdisciplinary partners on both research and practice at the local, national and global levels to improve family and community health and well-being. The mission of the Center for Family and Community Engagement is to learn from families and communities, and with them, create and inform practice, policy, and knowledge.

This , we’re highlighting Gerri, one of our incredible trainers who facilitates Pre-Service Training for child welfare professionals in North Carolina.
What is Pre-Service Training?
It is a seven-week, competency-based curriculum designed to prepare new social workers and supervisors with the knowledge and skills they need to begin working directly with children and families.
In partnership with the North Carolina Division of Social Services, our Center provides this comprehensive training, which combines:
💻 Self-paced online learning modules
📝 Transfer of learning activities
🏫 Instructor-led, in-person classroom training
The classroom portion includes:
➡️ Foundation Training — 1 week

This , we’re highlighting Connections: Partnering with Unhoused Populations.
Recent efforts like Wake at Home show the impact that consistent, thoughtful engagement can have.
Our two-hour interactive online workshop helps service providers better understand the challenges, barriers and stigmas experienced by unhoused individuals and families. Participants will explore their role when engaging with this community, share resources and strengthen strategies for building meaningful connections and providing responsive services.
Because creating pathways to stability starts with understanding, connection and partnership.
