🎥 Lights, camera, Summer Street!

We were excited to welcome the team from ByDesign TV to our Summer Street Apartments this week for a behind-the-scenes look at the design, construction and collaboration that brought this groundbreaking development to life.

Host Stacey Waxtan toured the building with our CEO, Michelle Wilcox and spoke to project partners KITE Architects and TRAC Builders about the vision behind Summer Street and what it takes to create housing designed with dignity, sustainability and community in mind.

We’re grateful to all of the partners who helped make Summer Street possible, including Peregrine Group, Spaulding Brick Company, AeroBarrier and Fernandes Masonry, who will also be featured in the final piece.

We can’t wait to see Summer Street on America By Design. Stay tuned for details on when the episode will air!

Work is officially underway to transform the bathrooms at our Women’s Shelter!

Thanks to TRAC Builders and generous funding from The Champlin Foundation, renovations are in progress to upgrade the facilities at our shelter, which provides a safe place to stay for up to 41 women at a time. The project includes improvements to the showers, restroom stalls, vanities, and sinks, alongside critical updates to the ADA-accessible bathroom to better accommodate women with mobility needs.

These improvements may seem simple, but they can make a meaningful difference. Having a clean, comfortable place to shower, get ready for the day and take care of personal needs provides dignity and a sense of normalcy during what can be an incredibly difficult time.

For so many of us, summertime is for gathering with friends and family – often around a grill, enjoying burgers and dogs. But for many of our residents and shelter guests, the simple summer tradition of a cookout isn’t something they can always count on.

This summer, thanks to the generosity of our corporate partners, Crossroads hosted a series of cookouts for hundreds of clients and families staying in our couples’, men's, and family shelters and living in permanent supportive housing – including the Harold Lewis House in West Warwick, the Mike Terry Apartments in Providence, and Warwick Family Housing.

We couldn’t have made these cookouts happen without our generous corporate partners, who covered expenses and provided volunteers to make each event special. Many thanks to Bank of America , BankNewport , The Chemical Company, Cox , Delta Dental of Rhode Island, TD , and Whole Foods Market for helping bring summer to Crossroads!

For 40 years, Providence Business News has documented the people, organizations and ideas shaping Rhode Island — and last week, members of that community came together to celebrate an important milestone.

We were proud to join PBN’s 40th Anniversary Gala and see Crossroads President & CEO Michelle Wilcox recognized as one of 40 “Driving Forces” who have made substantial contributions to Rhode Island’s business community.

Michelle was in great company, alongside leaders from across the nonprofit, business, healthcare, education and civic sectors who are working every day to make Rhode Island stronger.

Congratulations to PBN on four decades of telling Rhode Island’s stories — and to all 40 Driving Forces recognized as part of this milestone.

We're excited to share a new look inside our Health & Housing Apartments.

As WPRI 12 recently highlighted, construction is moving ahead on schedule, and we're on track to welcome our first residents this November.

When complete, the building will provide 35 fully accessible permanent supportive apartments for adults experiencing homelessness who also have significant medical needs. Designed with features like a healing garden, accessible living spaces, and on-site support, these apartments represent so much more than housing. They offer stability, dignity, and the opportunity to recover and thrive.

The need has never been greater, but every new home brings us one step closer to ensuring more Rhode Islanders have a safe place to call home.

Thank you to WPRI and Ethan Logue for highlighting this important milestone and helping share why projects like this matter.

Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating our Vice President of Support Services, Jenna Nutting, as one of Providence Business News' 40 Under Forty honorees.

Surrounded by her family and the Crossroads team, it was a special evening recognizing Jenna's leadership and the impact she has made on our organization and the thousands of Rhode Islanders we serve each year.

Jenna leads with compassion, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to helping our community find stability, housing, and hope. Her dedication inspires all of us, and we're grateful to celebrate this well-deserved recognition alongside the people who have supported her every step of the way.
