Today we were honored to join Governor Dan McKee as he signed the FY 2027 budget into law. We are so grateful to Governor McKee and the Rhode Island General Assembly for prioritizing state funding for essential preventive health care, investing in Planned Parenthood patients' to access birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, and more here in the Ocean State.

Special thanks to Speaker of the House Chris Blazejewski, House Majority Leader Representative Katherine Kazarian and Senate President Valarie Lawson, and our champions in the state legislature, who made this a priority and to all our coalition partners, volunteers, and supporters who helped make this win possible.

We are grateful to Speaker Joe Shekarchi for his unwavering leadership and commitment to protecting and expanding access to reproductive health care for all people in Rhode Island through the Equality in Abortion Coverage Act (2023) and the Health Care Provider Shield Act (2024), as well as the Reproductive Privacy Act (2019).

Under Speaker Shekarchi's leadership, Rhode Island has become a leading state for reproductive freedom; we are so thankful for Speaker Shekarchi's partnership and support.

Tonight, the U.S. Supreme Court blocked a lower court order that restricted mifepristone access while a federal lawsuit continues. While the Supreme Court did the bare minimum today, this case is not over. Access to mifepristone is still at risk, even in states where abortion is legal and protected, like Rhode Island. We will never stop fighting to make sure that everyone can get the care they need, when and where they need it.
