PHA was pleased to celebrate the kick-off of a new collaboration among the PHA, the Carroll Tower Tenants Association, and the Brown University School of Public Health on September 28th! We welcomed the start of Brown University’s Center on Heat, Health, and Aging Innovation and Research Solutions for Communities (CHAIRS-C), a three-year project funded by the National Institute on Aging. CHAIRS-C studies how extreme weather affects the health of older adults. It also works with local communities to find solutions that support older adults in Rhode Island. PHA is collaborating with Brown University, the Carroll Tower Tenants Association, and resident volunteers to develop a framework for emergency preparedness planning that elders can use to craft their own emergency preparedness plans. The aim is to develop a replicable potential elder peer-to-peer education model that could be brought to other elder communities. Thank you, Brown University School of Public Health for bringing this opportunity to PHA and its residents!
