🚴 Skills + Safety + a Bike = More opportunities 💚

Spokes & Skills brought middle school students together for six sessions of hands-on cycling, safety skills, and plenty of smiles!

Created by Lawrence Hopewell Trail Corporation and Boys and Girls Club of Mercer County, the program was powered by an amazing team:
🚲 Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association: bike safety training, helmets, bells & lights
🔧 The Bike Exchange: free bikes & tune-ups
🪖 Mercer County, led by Capital Health: TBI prevention & helmet-fit education

From learning the basics to completing five-mile group rides, participants finished strong with a well-earned graduation ride and pizza party! 🍕🎓🚴‍♀️

What a great National Night Out! 🚲🎉

GMTMA enjoyed connecting with community members in Princeton and Point Pleasant Borough, NJ, through our Bike & Pedestrian Quiz Wheel. We had great conversations about bicycle and pedestrian safety, transportation options, and ways to make our communities safer and more connected.

🚶🏽‍♂️🚶🏾🚶🏽‍♀️ The Circuit Trails are one of our region's most underrated transportation networks, connecting people to schools, jobs, parks, and one another, and they deserve to be safe, clean, and well-maintained!

We're teaming up with Future Roots for Trenton and the Trenton Green Team this Thursday to clean up the D&R Canal Trail, part of the Circuit Trails network. 🌿

Join us at 4PM at the Trenton Battle Monument to help care for this integral community space, then stick around for free tacos and a picnic! 🌮

Summer has been full of learning, movement, and safety! ☀️🚲🚶

GMTMA recently wrapped up six interactive safety sessions at RISE Summer Camp at Perry L. Drew Elementary School in East Windsor, helping campers ages 5–17 build the skills and confidence they need to bike and walk safely.

Campers asked thoughtful questions—especially about New Jersey’s new e-bike law, which went into effect on July 19. Each participant received a Safe Routes to School bookmark, and older campers took home reflective bands to help them stay visible when walking or biking after dark.
