Take a peek behind the scenes at our recent board retreat facilitated by our CEO Rose Wong and board president Kiyana Richardson. Our all-female board spent the day in working sessions, with ideas flowing and energy palpable⚡️

Senior leaders Chief Program & Impact Officer Ruben Johnson, and Chief Advancement Officer Courtney Matlock, along with consultants Allison Howe and Ellen Malavsky, led lively discussions on pathways to empowerment, advancement, governance & ambassadorship, and storytelling, marketing, and messaging. As we wrapped up this meaningful day, we had strengthened our sisterhood and felt even more energized about our exciting next chapter. We were reminded of the shared purpose that brought us together: eliminating racism, empowering women, and advancing peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Well, we think our Burke Foundation Early Childhood Center teachers are outstanding EVERY day - all year long. They foster a nurturing environment where every child can grow with confidence, lead with kindness, and experience joy. Every classroom is bilingual (12 languages are spoken across our faculty!). We use Creative Curriculum®, which encourages creativity and critical thinking, and Teaching Strategies GOLD® for assessments. Enrollment is year-round for ages 8 weeks through six years old.

Last week we celebrated a true milestone as we said a fond farewell to Tara O’Shea, beloved Director of The Burke Foundation Early Childhood Center, who retired after 30 remarkable years of service to the YWCA Princeton.

Tara has been an extraordinary part of our YWCA's heart and history, leaving an indelible mark on the organization. She has welcomed generations of parents and young members of our YWCA family through our doors with a warm smile, endless compassion, and a genuine commitment to making every child and family feel seen, supported, and cared for.
