As the world counts down to the 2026 , another trend is impossible to ignore: extreme heat is rising at nearly every host stadium.

🌡️For example, the number of extremely hot June-July days at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca — set to become the first stadium ever to host three World Cups — has climbed from 2 before the 1986 tournament to 11 ahead of 2026. The climate crisis is no longer a future concern for sports, it’s already changing the game.

🐦Climate change is ruffling more than a few feathers this .

Across the planet, warmer temperatures and shifting seasons are disrupting the migration patterns birds have relied on for generations. This puts nearly two-thirds of North American bird species at risk.

❄️ In our warming climate, winters are feeling the heat.

Winters are getting shorter in 195 of 245 major U.S. cities, with the coldest time of year now nine days shorter, on average across these 195 cities, than during 1970-1997.

Why care? Shorter, warmer winters can impact winter recreation, and health, water supplies, ecosystems, and agriculture throughout the year.
