The Prattville YMCA family is heartbroken by the loss of Sabrina King, lovingly known to all of us as Coach Sabby.

For years, Coach Sabby poured her heart into our Field of Dreams and Ability Programs, serving countless athletes, campers, and families with unwavering love, patience, and joy. Since returning from COVID, she faithfully coached multiple baseball teams each season, led cheerleaders for football and basketball, volunteered several days each week at Camp ABLE, attended the Alabama State Games year after year, and could always be found helping wherever she was needed—from coaching on the field to announcing events and cheering on our athletes from the sidelines.

Coach Sabby never sought recognition. She simply showed up, served, and loved others well. Her impact on our athletes and families is immeasurable, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Today, we especially lift up her mother, family, and loved ones in prayer as they navigate this unimaginable loss. We also grieve alongside the athletes, coaches, volunteers, and friends whose lives were touched by Coach Sabby’s kindness and dedication.

The best way we can honor Coach Sabby is to continue building the welcoming, inclusive community she loved so much and to serve others with the same compassion she showed every day.

Thank you, Coach Sabby, for the countless lives you changed. Your legacy will live on in every athlete you encouraged, every smile you inspired, and every heart you touched.
