Our Road Captain, Rattlesnake, reached out and let us know that due to some recent health issues, he didn’t feel he had the strength to ride in the Prattville Mardi Gras parade.

After talking with him for a while, it just didn't sit right leaving him behind. I reached out to the rest of the club, and the consensus was instant: Rattlesnake had to be with us. As firefighters and as a club, we never leave a brother/sister behind. We decided if he couldn't twist the throttle, we’d bring the ride to him. We loaded his bike onto a trailer so he could stay front and center with his brothers and sisters, greeting the crowds and enjoying the spirit of the parade.

Seeing the smile on his face and the support from the Prattville community reminded us exactly why we do what we do. Health might throw us a curveball, but it’ll never stop the brotherhood. We ride as one—even when one of us is on the trailer!

Happy Mardi Gras y'all!

**In Remembrance of September 11, 2001**

Today, the Alabama Association of Volunteer Fire Departments honors the memory of those lost on September 11, 2001. As we reflect on that tragic day, we remember the bravery of first responders who rushed into danger, displaying unparalleled courage and selflessness.

We stand in solidarity with the families affected and pay tribute to the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice. Their legacy continues to inspire our commitment to serve and protect our communities every day.

Let us never forget the lessons of resilience and unity that emerged from that day. Together, we honor the spirit of service that defines us as firefighters and as a community.

This morning, members of the Red Knights MC Chapter AL1 and the Billingsley Volunteer Fire Department had the privilege of es**rting the 9/11 Memorial Experience to Opelika. This incredible exhibit is making its first-ever display in Alabama and will be here from September 11th through September 16th.

A special thank you to the firefighters who were at ground zero on 9/11/2001 and are hosting this powerful tribute. Their presence makes this event even more meaningful.

Let's all take the time to visit and remember those we lost and honor the heroes of that day.
