To Our Beloved Prattville and River Region Community,

At the core of Prattville Pride are two fundamental values: community and transparency. Because you have stood by us, celebrated with us, and helped us grow, we want to be completely open with you about where we stand today—and where we need to go next.

As things currently stand, we cannot afford to host our annual Pride Festival in the way we have in the past. Like many grassroots community organizations, we are facing real financial and operational hurdles that make a large-scale festival impossible under our current circumstances.

However, this is not a cancellation—it is a pivot.

We are actively exploring new partnerships, creative funding models, and alternative solutions to ensure that we can still host a Pride celebration this year. It might look a little different than what we are used to, and it may be on a different scale, but our commitment to bringing this community together remains absolute.

To make this happen, we cannot do it alone. We need your help.
Prattville Pride is entirely community-driven, and right now, our hands are few. If we want to keep moving forward, we need a stronger foundation. We are officially putting out a call for:
• Board Members: We need dedicated leaders to help guide our vision, manage operations, and secure our future.
• Volunteers: We need hands-on help with planning, outreach, and day-of event support.
• General Support & Partnerships: Whether you are a local business looking to sponsor, a community organization wanting to collaborate, or an individual with a specific skill to share—we need you.
Pride has always been about resilience, adaptation, and coming together in the face of a challenge. We are being transparent about our needs because we believe in the strength of this community to help us meet them.

If you love this space, if you believe in our mission, and if you have the time or resources to give, please reach out to us. Let’s build what comes next, together.

With love and service,
The Prattville Pride Board

Last Saturday, we had the absolute honor of hosting our Q***r Library Initiative at The NewSouth Bookstore as part of the incredible work being done by the American Humanist Association and The American Empathy Project.

This initiative is rooted in something we believe deeply in, that empathy is action. And being chosen as one of the funded projects across the country was not something we took lightly.

This was one of the first grants Prattville Pride has ever been awarded, and we went into this with a clear intention: to be good stewards of this opportunity, and to create something meaningful for our community.

To everyone who showed up, thank you.
To every volunteer who gave their time and energy, thank you.
And to NewSouth Bookstore for opening your doors and helping us create such a welcoming, affirming space, thank you.

Because of you, community members were able to start or continue building their own q***r libraries, spaces of representation, visibility, and belonging that extend far beyond a single day.

That’s how this work ripples outward.

We are incredibly proud of what was created together, and deeply grateful to have been part of something bigger than ourselves through the American Empathy Project.

A special thank you to our Board Secretary and Chair of Grants & Scholarships, Natalie Mathis, for finding and applying for this grant and coming up with a community initiative that was unique and meaningful.
